TURN IT UP

Good Morning Durbs

A MOMENT OF PRIDE. A MOMENT OF PURPOSE. A MOMENT FOR ERPM.

The Gathering is Daily Maverick’s annual premier event, bringing together some of South Africa’s most influential thinkers, leaders and change-makers to confront the challenges facing our country and shape the conversations that will define its future.

For ERPM to be given a platform at an event of this stature, alongside some of South Africa’s most iconic leaders, is both an honour and a powerful affirmation of the work we have been doing.

We didn’t arrive here by taking the easy road.

We pushed forward when others would have walked away. We challenged the system when it would have been easier to remain silent. We went to court, we lost — and we refused to give up.

We kept fighting.
We kept organising.
We kept believing.

And then we won.

But our journey has never been about winning for the sake of winning.

Our mission is far greater: to help save our city, to challenge a system that is failing ordinary citizens, to demand accountability, and to ensure that the voices of the people are heard.

ERPM was born from a simple belief: our city belongs to its people, and its people deserve better.

It is an immense privilege to represent my community, my city and every person who has placed their trust in this movement.

Today, we stand on a bigger stage.

Tomorrow, the work continues.

This is ERPM.
This is our moment.
And this is only the beginning.

Your city is the story. Come hear it told. The pothole that’s been there since 2019. The water pressure that disappeared while the bill went up. The neighbourhood WhatsApp group that’s become a municipal complaints desk. At The Gathering 2026, we’re getting specific about the decisions shap...

📢 A PROUD MOMENT FOR ERPM — AND A BIGGER MOMENT FOR RESIDENTS!

We are incredibly proud to see our ERPM Chairman, Asad Gaffar, taking his place at Daily Maverick’s The Gathering 2026: Cities Edition, a national platform focused on one of the most important questions facing South Africa:

Can our cities be fixed — not in theory, but in practice? (Daily Maverick)

For ERPM, this is bigger than recognition.

This is about residents finally getting a seat at the table. 🪑🇿🇦

The everyday struggles our communities face, failing infrastructure, water outages, electricity, roads, accountability and poor service delivery, deserve to be part of the national conversation.

We are proud to be led by Asad Gaffar, and proud that the voices and lived experiences of ordinary ratepayers and residents can be carried into spaces where the future of our cities is being discussed.

From our streets, to the national stage, residents deserve to be heard.

This is only the beginning. 💪
