Education is more than classrooms and textbooks — it is where young people begin shaping the kind of lives they will lead.
Through The Men Carve Programme, on Friday, 5 June, The Men Carve and Izithelo Ezinhle Youth Org., together with SA Harvest and the Black Coffee Foundation, visited Ngungwini Secondary School to engage learners on taking ownership of their choices, their future, and their personal direction in life. As part of the visit, we also donated jerseys, short pants, underwear, and other essential items to support learners during the winter season. In addition, we extended our support by providing food parcels, helping to meet some of the immediate needs of learners.
The Programme is designed to promote healthy manhood, responsible lifestyles, leadership, gender-based violence prevention, and positive decision-making among young people. We don’t just speak about ending GBV and building healthy manhood and lifestyles—we equip the next generation to live these values every day.
For primary and high schools, our LIVERESPECT™️ Healthy, Respectful Manhood Curriculum helps prevent bullying, violence, and unhealthy behaviours in school and sports environments. The programme equips coaches, teachers, mentors, and youth development practitioners with practical tools to develop young men into respectful, responsible, and principled leaders who make positive choices in their communities.
To every learner who showed up: your future is in your hands.
Our time at the school left us inspired by the determination and potential of these young people. It has also strengthened our desire to return and do even more. In the future, we would love to partner with individuals, organisations, and businesses who may wish to support school uniform initiatives for identified learners across different grades, as well as ongoing food parcel support for matric learners. Many Grade 12 learners rent accommodation near the school as they pursue their education, and together we can help create an environment that enables them to focus on their studies and achieve their goals.
A heartfelt thank you to SA Harvest and the Black Coffee Foundation for making this impactful day possible. Together, we continue to invest in the leaders of tomorrow.
