PLANNED WATER SUPPLY REDUCTION ON THE SOUTHERN AQUEDUCT PIPELINE
Residents and businesses are informed of a planned bulk water supply reduction on the Southern Aqueduct pipeline from Wednesday, 19 August at 6 AM to Friday, 21 August, at 6 AM.
The shutdown was originally scheduled for 12 August but was postponed due to inclement weather. The work has now been rescheduled for 19 August 2026.
The City’s Water Operations Department will undertake a planned shutdown of the 950 mm pre-stressed concrete pipeline (P*P) on the Southern Aqueduct on 19 August. This is required to assist contractors in undertaking preparatory work for the new Southern Aqueduct Pipeline Upgrade Project.
The Southern Aqueduct will experience a reduction in bulk water supply, while the existing 1 200 mm steel pipeline will remain operational and continue supplying water to the Western, Central and Southern regions.
It is anticipated that the sectional repair work at the intersection of Perth and Hi Wycombe roads, Westville.
The City will monitor reservoir levels throughout the shutdown. Depending on demand and reservoir levels, reservoir outlets may be shut to preserve available storage and reduce recovery times
