TransHope

TransHope Bringing hope to the trans and gender diverse community And she was here to bring hope to the transgender and gender diverse community.

Organisation background
Trans Hope was formed through a support group of transgender individuals in KwaZulu Natal. This is the group which made it possible to see the participation approach worked and helped a lot of transgender individuals which needed help in different ways. The founder of the organisation Ms Sazi Jali saw a need of not just helping few people but to expend the help to many grou

ps of people within the province. In 2019 Trans Hope was registered as Non-profit organisation and it was the first Trans Lead organisation in the province. The dream was to mainstream gender diversity in the community through providing safe spaces within both public and private institutes that a trans and gender diverse people cross path with, through education and advocacy. Our vision It to see constitutional rights and policies being followed within the community to provide a safe environment for Trans and gender diverse community in the republic of South Africa
our mission TransHope seeks to increase knowledge about gender identity and sexual orientation expression as well as sexual characteristics (SOGIESC). Create safe spaces for people who are gender diverse, through killing stigma against LGBTQ+ by building our community and empowering them with understanding about diversity of humankinds
Through the encouragement made by Prof Zanele Muholi and Dr Chris McLachlan who motivated and saw a leader in the founder Trans Hope was born and soon after was registered as an non- profit organisation under the non-profit organisation act (71 of 1997) on the 06th of June 2019. The aim was not to isolate trans people and through it board and working team Trans hope had number of cis gender individuals assisting and fighting for the mutual understanding of diversity within the community in which it was not acceptance hence it was more on learning so people wont take away the rights of trans and gender diverse people

Our TransDayOfVisibility turned out to be an amazing session on celebrating victories and successes of Trans people that they have accomplished. It became a wonderful experience to see on screen the acceptance of Fathers and supporting their Trans child. In societies that we live in we don't normally see such but mothers tend to play a major role in the becoming of trans individuals more. Therefore, it was emotional yet inspiring.
