THAMIL NEW YEAR - JHB NORTH BRANCH
A wonderful, joyful & colorful Thamil New Year celebration was humbly held by Saiva Sithantha Sungum, Jhb North Branch on 19 April 2026.
The program featured Thamil scripture recitations and sacred songs from Guruswamigal’s hymns, Thirumurai, Thiruarutpa, and Thirupugazh, beautifully rendered by all present.
Instead of our traditional Thamil New Year speeches, we were delighted to have our senior youth take the stage and share a variety of topics related to Thamil culture in today’s world. Each youth brought unique perspectives and thought provoking messages, reflecting sincerity and depth. The messages shared by the youth today truly reflected their passion and deep respect for our culture.
Our senior youth also sung a hymn by Guruswamigal titled Ramana.
Our younger kids also showcased their talents through a tabla solo, Paaratha Naattiyam solo, singing of Thirumurai, and a melody presentation of three of the most beloved hymns composed by Guruswamigal: Namasivaya Om, Thaaiyum Neeyeh, and Namasivaya Namaveh.
This melody symbolized the strong and promising future of the works of our Master, His Holiness Guruswamigal. They also sung a Thirumurai, Thodudaiya Sehviyan.
Sacred hymns were lead by the music team who spent long hours dedicated to music practice. They were joined by all present.
We were delighted to have our guests dancers, Shivalaya Dance School, proudly performing Paaratha Naattiyam also by dedicated youth.
Our celebrations concluded with our annual traditional South Indian lunch, highlighted by a live dohsa-making experience hosted by Chennai Express.
The joint efforts of all made the day memorable and joyful.
We were truly blessed and grateful to have shared this special day together.
