Motivational talk for High School Learners

We were honoured to be invited to visit the beautiful school Emachobeni Secondary School, in Inanda.

Ahead of their matric learners starting trials, their teachers felt some inspiration and motivation would go a long way.

Drumroll…. We had just the person! Social worker Sma Mlawu lit the stage with both inspiration and motivation.
Sharing aspects of her own story, and challenging learners to make consistent small good choices, her words were well received.

We love opportunities to join hands with schools and encourage young people.

But Maths Club is about more than numbers. ❤️

Our incredible volunteer tutors bring fun, enthusiasm and encouragement, helping children not only understand Maths, but discover a love of learning.

They don’t just teach Maths. They connect. They encourage. They believe.

Beyond the Classroom: From Ideas to Innovation 💡

What happens when we challenge students to look beyond what they are learning in the classroom and start seeing the opportunities that technology can create?

We were privileged to offer a Guest Lecture at Eduvos, bringing together students and lecturers from IT, Coding & Robotics, Cybersecurity and Software Development.

The session began with “Beyond the Classroom” encouraging students to think beyond technology and technical skills, and to develop an *opportunity mindset*. Technology is not just about what we can build; it’s about the problems we can solve, the opportunities we can create and the impact we can make.

Then, it was time to move from thinking to doing!

Through a practical Coding & Robotics session, students and lecturers got hands-on with Arduino-based coding and robotics, exploring components, coding and technology in action.

Because learning becomes powerful when we move beyond the classroom, turn ideas into action, and empower the next generation to see what’s possible.

Think differently. Create boldly. Build the future.

70 YEARS ON… AND THEIR MESSAGE STILL MATTERS.

On 9 August 1956, 20,000 women stood together and marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

They were protesting the pass laws - laws that threatened to control where Black women could live, work and move.

But their fight was about so much more than a pass book.

They understood what these laws would do to families.

They understood that separating mothers from children, wives from husbands and families from their homes would cause wounds that would reach far beyond the individual. They saw how the deliberate disruption of family life would ultimately damage the very fabric of society.

And so they stood together.

Women from different backgrounds, communities and generations united by a shared conviction: our families matter, our freedom matters, and our voices matter.

Seventy years later, we honour their courage.

But perhaps the greatest way we can honour them is not simply by remembering what they did - it is by continuing what they started.

By creating spaces where women can find their voice.
By standing beside women who are facing adversity.
By strengthening families and communities.
By recognising the positive power that exists within every woman when she is given the opportunity to use it.

Because change begins when people realise that they are not powerless.

70 years on, we remember the women who stood.
We celebrate the women who continue to stand.
And we commit to building a society where every woman has the freedom, dignity and opportunity to rise.
