Subject: Low Attendance at the Shallcross CPSF Financial AGM – 20 April 2026
To the Shallcross Community,
We wish to express our disappointment at the extremely poor attendance at the Shallcross CPSF Financial Annual General Meeting held on 20 April 2026.
The Financial AGM is one of the most important meetings on our calendar. It exists to ensure transparency and accountability by giving community members the opportunity to review how funds are used, question expenditure, and understand the assets currently held by the CPSF. These processes only work when the community actively participates.
Over the past four years, Shallcross CPSF has grown from having no assets to an independently assessed asset value of approximately R400,000. This level of growth and stability places us ahead of more than 90% of CPFs currently operating. It is an achievement that reflects commitment, discipline, and consistent volunteer effort—and one that the community can be proud of.
Unfortunately, very few residents were present to share in or engage with this progress. While the results are visible, the long hours, personal sacrifices, and sustained effort behind them often are not. None of this happens by chance. It is the outcome of volunteers who believe deeply in building a safer Shallcross.
A full 21‑day notice period was issued in line with requirements. Despite this, attendance remained low, which raises concern and is deeply demotivating to those who continue to give their time and energy to the CPF. Community safety and financial accountability are shared responsibilities, not issues that can be left to a few individuals.
In closing, what Shallcross CPSF has achieved in four years is unprecedented within Shallcross. This is a factual statement and one that should matter to every resident.
The CPF exists to serve and protect the community, but it cannot succeed without community involvement. Without participation, engagement, and support, the progress and vision being built for Shallcross are at risk.
We urge residents to reflect on this and to begin taking a more active role. Your presence matters. Your voice matters.
Shallcross CPSF remains committed to this community and sincerely hopes that residents will meet these efforts halfway—before years of hard work are placed in jeopardy.
Warm regards,
Vishal Lachman
Chairperson
