As members of faith communities, we will use our sacred texts, belief systems and values to promote ecological justice, conscious of the need for conservation, respect for and the promotion of biodiversity and the enhancement of ecosystems. We celebrate our city’s beauty and diversity as well as resist the threats to its life; while encouraging our members to live in harmony with the natural envir

onment, for the sake of our own well-being and that of our children as well as for the earth itself. We will use sermons and other occasions for teaching to raise awareness and encourage our members to preserve and foster the flourishing of the environment, including supporting the initiatives of this Durban Faith Conservancy
