Good morning Quarry Heights Board and Friends of the Edwaleni project....please join me in wishing Cynthia -Nonhlanhla for the 57th birthday for yesterday 14th of June. Looking back I want to try and capture the role she has played in my life and the gift of discovering her beginning at the Canaan Informal Settlement till now 2025. Around 1995 or so I met Cynthia when I hosted a team from the YWAM Anastasis Mercy Ship which was docked in Durban. 14 team members camped in the backyard of my parents place in Joyce Road. The team met Cynthia. A women's group was formed with Cynthia Ethel and Rejoice.

After the team left we kept the connection and these women became the founders of the Quarry Heights Project.
(Never despise the power of short term mission outreaches).

Cynthia has a special drive within her and an amazing energy with a special love for community. She remains involved through thick and thin. She has an amazing passion for the children and the Senior Citizens.
She has become pre occupied with school after she obtained a degree in teaching. Thanks to an encouraging gift towards her studies by Sue Thomas.

There is so much more I can say but I want to thank God for her. I pray she will keep the flame and shine even brighter at school and the wider community. It is not always easy. She is also a grandmother o which keeps her busy too.My prayer for you Cynthia is Hebrews 12:1-3
1. Run the Race...cast away all the baggage that weighs you down (easier said than done) but find a friend or spiritual leader to come alongside you
2. Fix your eyes on Jesus our Alpha and Omega
3. Consider the cross ...the suffering of Christ and be reminded that he intercedes for you and knows your disappointment and struggles "Jesus knows all about your struggles....there's not a friend like the lowly Jesus" (My favorite hymn in Zulu.
4. I pray that you have a fresh encounter with Christ today and the weeks ahead. On this Father's day may you deepen your understanding and experience his deep love for you.
Happy Birthday and may God bless you. DD
