WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION DUE TO UMNGENI-UTHUKELA WATER MAINTENANCE
The eThekwini Municipality wishes to advise residents and businesses in affected areas of a planned interruption and reduction in water supply due to essential maintenance work being undertaken by the City's bulk water supplier, uMngeni-uThukela Water (UUW).
The impact is expected to be mainly in the Inner West and Outer West Regions, with smaller affected areas in the North and South Regions.
The maintenance work will require a planned shutdown of the raw water pipeline( 51 pipeline) supplying the DV Harris Waterworks.
The shutdown is scheduled to commence at 8am on Tuesday, 29 September, and continue until 8pm on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
During this period, the DV Harris Waterworks will not be able to produce bulk water as its raw water supply will be temporarily stopped.
This will result in a reduction in water supply to parts of the city.
Umngeni-uThukela water advised that Midmar Waterworks will continue supplying water to the Umlaas Road reservoirs during the shutdown, which will help to reduce the impact on affected areas.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are urged to use water sparingly before and during the shutdown. This will assist in preserving available reservoir storage for as long as possible.
Water supply may take some time to stabilise once the bulk supply has been restored.

*Outer West Region:
Botha’s Hill, Alverstone, Inchanga, Drummond, Assagay, Cato Ridge, kwaXimba , Isithumba, Esikhelekhleni, Shongweni Westown, Summerveld, Cliffdale, Bucks Farm, Georgedale, Sonkontshe, Mophela, Mlaba Village, Hammarsdale, Mpumalanga, Ntshongweni, eDamini, Zwelibomvu, Shongweni Valley, Hillcrest, Waterfall, part of Forest Hills, Molweni, Kloof, Stockville Road area and Gillitts.
*Inner West Region:
New Germany, Wyebank, KwaDabeka, Padfield Park, Westmead area, Westmead Industrial Area, Marianhill, Marian Heights, Nagina Township (Phases 1 and 2), Tshelimnyama, Mpola, Madiba Valley, part of Nsizwakazi, Dambuza Sithandu Hills, Masanseni Area, Dassenhoek, part of Thornwood, Sithandu Hills, Masenseni Area, Epitoli kwaLinda, Tshelimnyama Dabe area, Mpola and part of KwaNdengezi.
*North Region:
Ntuzuma E Section, Inanda Glebe, Amachobeni, Ohlanga Phase 1 & 2, Langalebale, Dube Village, Tambo Plaza, Stop 8, Amaotana reservoir, eTufuleni reservoir, Inanda Congo area, Inanda Newtown A section, Amaotana, eTafuleni Reservior, Matabetulu, Ngcongweni, Mshayazafe, Ngoqokazi and part of Newtown B.
*South Region:
Umbumbulu, Ogagwini, Nungwane, Ezimweni and Adams Mission.
