If the walls of The Baby Home could talk, they would have a lot of stories to tell.

They would tell you about tiny cries in the middle of the night, first smiles, cuddles, bath time, messy meals, big milestones and little personalities growing every day.

They would tell you about the hard days, the happy days and the tears that come with saying goodbye.

But most of all, they would tell you about the love.

Because behind these walls, babies are Seen, Safe and Loved.

Part 4- We are going to adopt him!

I think the truth is… we'd already made the decision before we even realised we'd made it.

We went back to The Peace Agency and said yes.

Yes, we wanted to adopt Emmanuel.

We went through the screening, worked with an incredible social worker and had the support of The Peace Agency guiding us through the process.

And then, a few months later, Emmanuel was placed in our care.

Our little boy was coming home.

But while all of this was happening, life was changing in another way too.

Bjorn had started questioning whether he still wanted to be a school principal.

He was spending so much time caring for other people's children, and now he wanted more time with his own new little boy.

But there was a problem…

We lived on the school campus.

So if Bjorn left his job, we wouldn't just lose his salary.

We would lose our home too!

It was a very difficult time in our lives and that is when something completely unexpected came along.

Yesterday we celebrated a very special birthday — our little man turned ONE!

This boy has more personality packed into his tiny body than most adults! His cheeky smile and infectious laugh light up every room, and he brings so much joy wherever he goes.

And judging by these pictures, he has definitely discovered one of the best parts of birthdays… CAKE!
We think he enjoyed it every bit as much as he should have!

Happy 1st birthday, sweet boy. You are so loved, and we are so lucky to be celebrating you.

Part 3 - The meeting that changed everything.

I walked into that meeting thinking I was asking for help with one little boy.

I had no idea I was about to have a conversation about opening a baby home.

I met with Justin from The Peace Agency and started explaining our situation with Emmanuel.

And then he started explaining the process of opening a baby home…

Screening. Finances. Requirements. Everything.

And I remember sitting there thinking:

“Oh my goodness… this man thinks I want to open a baby home!”

I eventually had to explain that this was definitely NOT why I was there.

I was looking for help with Emmanuel.

But then Justin said something that changed everything.

If we were genuinely considering adoption, they could help us.

So he sent us home to talk as a family and decide what we really wanted to do.

The funny thing is…

I think we'd already made that decision.

We wanted Emmanuel.

And that was the beginning of our adoption journey.

But little did I know, that first conversation about a baby home wasn't quite as random as I thought…

Because a few months later, I was going to have a very different answer for Justin.

Today we welcomed the tiniest, sweetest little girl into our Baby Home family.

She is nearly 7 months old, but after spending so much of her little life in hospital, she is still so incredibly tiny that she came home wearing a newborn outfit.

Today was the start of a new chapter for her. A chapter filled with cuddles, love, attention, little smiles and all the simple things every baby deserves.

We can’t wait to get to know her, watch her grow and give her the love and care she has been waiting for.

Welcome home, sweet girl. You are safe, you are loved and you are finally home.

Part 2 - The little boy we kept going back for

One weekend became another.

Then another.

And without really realising it, Emmanuel was becoming part of our family.

At the time, we were simply hosting him. Taking him out, spending time with him and getting to know this little boy who had somehow found his way into our hearts.

Then we found out something that changed everything.

Emmanuel was adoptable.

His name was on the adoption register.

But he was living in a place that wasn't really facilitating adoptions, and there were other children in the same situation.

Suddenly, this wasn't just about being a host family anymore.

We wanted to know what we could do to help.

And that's when we were told about The Peace Agency.

We had no idea that walking through their doors was going to change the direction of our lives forever.

A little something that makes a BIG difference!

It is perfect for tummy time, rolling, stretching, playing and exploring — giving our little ones a safe, comfortable space to move, learn and grow.

Tummy time is so important for helping babies build strength in their neck, shoulders and upper body, and having a lovely space like this makes those moments even more enjoyable.
