SPECIAL MOMENT
Thank you to Babu Mlangeni, Chairperson of Mkhondo Older Forum Club, for presenting the trophy. Your leadership and encouragement mean so much to our elders.

SPECIAL THANK YOU
To Miss T. Myeni, our Social Auxiliary Worker. She worked side by side with Babu Mlangeni and did everything to make sure we got to the District Games.

True imbokodo, a strong brave and intelligent woman- a woman of strength and heart. We see you and we thank you!

To all the centres who came together today - this is what community looks like. Dancing, laughing, competing, and supporting each other under God’s beautiful sun.

Age is just a number. Our gogo’s proved that today. Strong bodies, strong hearts, strong community! 💪

Warm & Community
"Welcoming Our Youth With Open Arms 💜

•Today the Driefontein Old Age Service Centre was honored by a visit from Siphesihle Mdlalose who is currently participating in modeling and currently Miss Qedela Secondary School LGBTQ+ locally.

•She didn’t just come to visit — she rolled up her sleeves and helped us clean and prepare the centre. Her visit is a proof there's a youth that's willing to make a change by a giving a helping hand to those in need in the community.

•We were also blessed to have Xoliswa Nxumalo, our Social Auxiliary Worker, on site to welcome her. Xoliswa and Siphesihle Mdlalose shared this special moment together.

•Thank you to both of you for showing what wonderful service, pride, and community spirit look like!

THIS IS WHAT 67 MINUTES LOOKS LIKE 🙏

Today at Driefontein Old Age Center, we didn’t just talk about Mandela Day. We LIVED it.

We packed and distributed food parcels to our gogo’s and mkhulu’s.
We picked up brushes and gave the center a fresh coat of paint.
We sat, we laughed, we honored the people who built our community.

To every elder in these photos: Thank you for your strength.
To every volunteer, donor, and supporter: This is because of you.

“It is in your hands to make a difference.” And today, we did.
Food parcels delivered.
Walls painted.
Hearts filled.

This is the impact of showing up.
Thank you to everyone who supports Driefontein Old Age Group. You are changing lives, one act of kindness at a time.

THANK YOU FOR SPREADING LOVE ON MANDELA DAY ❤️🙏

Driefontein Old Age Group is full of gratitude today!

A huge THANK YOU to Foloyi Construction Mine & Projects for their beautiful Mandela Day outreach at our center. Your kindness touched the hearts of our elders.

We were also honored to host Excelsior Newspaper who came to share our elders' stories with the community.

Because of your generosity:
✅ 30 food parcels were distributed with love
✅ 4 buckets of paint were donated to brighten our Service Center

Our gogos and mkhulus felt seen, valued, and remembered. This is Ubuntu in action!

Special thanks to Mr Maseko Mr Musa Mkhabela , Mr TT, and the entire Foloyi staff for your big hearts and for giving your time.

To Excelsior Newspaper, thank you for helping us tell this beautiful story.

May God bless and multiply everything you have done for our elders.

HONORING A LEGACY. CARING FOR A LIFETIME.

Today, 18 July 2026, we celebrate Mandela Day at Driefontein Old Age Group.

This is more than a service center.
This is a home where dignity is restored, stories are shared, and elders are cherished.

To our gogo's and mkhulu's: Thank you for building the foundation we stand on.
To our supporters: Thank you for helping us keep their golden years bright.

"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made." - Nelson Mandela

🛑 Aging is inevitable, but losing your strength, balance, and independence doesn't have to be.

Many people believe that turning 70 means automatically becoming frail and weak. But physical decline isn't just about age—it’s about the habits we choose to maintain. Your body is incredibly adaptive, and with the right daily choices, you can protect your mobility and stay active well into your golden years. 🚶‍♂️💪

From eating more protein to slow down natural muscle loss, to drinking water on a strict schedule (since our thirst signals weaken as we age), these 8 simple habits are the ultimate blueprint for longevity. Protecting your grip and leg strength isn't just about fitness—it’s your primary shield against dangerous falls🧑‍🦽
