Celebrating 20 Years of Empowerment! ๐ŸŽ‰

On October 26th, I had the profound honor of delivering the keynote at the YLED 2024 Graduation Ceremony, marking two decades of transforming over 20,000 young lives across South Africa.

From humble beginnings in Dobsonville to a movement rooted in purpose, YLED continues to nurture leaders who excel, lead, and uplift their communities. ๐Ÿ–คโœจ To the graduates: Your journey has just begun! Measure success by impact and lead with humility.

Thank you to everyone whoโ€™s contributed to YLEDโ€™s mission. Letโ€™s continue building a future grounded in shared success! ๐Ÿ’ผ๐ŸŽ“

The other week, from 28 Sept to 4 Oct, I had the privilege to be part of the London Investment & SME Immersion Week. It was an incredible journey of learning, networking, and amplifying the role of small businesses in economic growth. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

A highlight for me was moderating a dynamic panel featuring Minister Stella Ndabeni Abrahams , Deputy Minister Andrew Whitfield, and Edna Sathekga-Montse of African Bank. Their insights on how small businesses can transform our economy were eye-opening!

Special appreciation goes to Ms. Dineo Mathlako, the Deputy High Commissioner to the UK, whose leadership made it all possible.

On a fun note, attending the Chelsea Football Club vs Brighton & Hove Albion FC match was a personal highlight โ€“ work hard, play hard! โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ผ

Youth Activism Will Save South Africa

I am thrilled to share that my recent column, "Youth Activism Will Save South Africa," was published in the Sowetan Newspaper on May 23, 2024! In the article, I reflect on my experience facilitating a Problem-Solving Skills session with a group of incredible young South Africans aged 15 to 17. Their passion for addressing critical social issues like gender-based violence, inequality, and mental health is truly inspiring.

Read the full article to learn more about their stories and the impactful discussions we had. These young leaders are the future of our nation, and their activism gives me hope for a brighter, more equitable South Africa.

Empowering Young Leaders for a Brighter Future ๐ŸŒŸ

I recently facilitated the Problem-Solving Skills session for the YLED 2024 Programme, and it was an incredible experience. These young leaders, aged 15 to 17, engaged in meaningful discussions, addressed critical social issues, and even held a silent protest to raise awareness. Their passion and energy give me hope that the future is in safe hands.

From tackling gender-based violence and inequality to addressing education and health, these young activists demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges facing South Africa. Despite the obstacles, they radiated optimism and a commitment to creating positive change in their communities.

A huge thank you to Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development for nurturing these young minds and empowering them to become transformational leaders. I was honored to have inspiring guests at the session, including Unarine Ralinala , Kunene , Bonke Msibi , and Mankgara Maime , who shared their stories and the profound impact YLED has had on their journeys.

This session is a reminder of the power of youth activism and the importance of fostering self-leadership. I encourage everyone to support initiatives like YLED that cultivate the next generation of leaders.

A big shout-out to Themba Makamo GIBS Business School BP Printing SA for supporting this fantastic program.

As SA prepares for its seventh general election on May 29, we stand at a critical crossroads that demands both reflection and decisive action. Yet, amid the noise of political campaigns, a glaring oversight emerges: a deafening silence on nurturing our nation's entrepreneurial spirit.
