Soweto Positive Speakers Toastmasters Club Soweto Positive Speakers is a Toastmasters club in Soweto. Our club meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 11h30 -13h30pm.

Meetings are held at Diepkloof Community Centre in Diepkloof.

Voices of our Club, 3rd Edition features Kagiso Emmanuel Ngwenya

“I attended a Soweto Positive Speakers (SPS) club meeting in what was the club’s 18th year birthday celebration and immediately I desired to join and also serve in the club’s leadership.

Leadership looked fun, all leaders where active, led a lively meeting and where so insipiring such that I wanted to experience being them.

Today, I finish my first year as Vice President Public Relations, and I still feel the same drive, except now I desire to serve at Area or District level

As we continue on our club success stories.

Today at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein, our club's vice president of public relations (VPPR) Kagiso Emmanuel Ngwenya will deliver a keynote address with the theme "Thinking Beyond," which he practiced this past Saturday.

In his words “Nothing makes me feel more prepared than thinking about our club meetings. When the opportunity to speak in front of an audience arises, I wear the SPS pride and spirit to boost my confidence. These are moments one realises how all passion driven speeches from our club members are helpful during difficult times, such that when you go speak to the world alone, you still feel carried and today is no exception for me”.

We believe all our club members have the responsibility to represent not just the toastmasters international, but a positive brand image of Soweto one narrative at a time and one speech at a time.

The Voices of Our Club campaign continues and today, we feature our club president Nothando Ngcobo as she shares nuggets from her journey.

“I attended my first Toastmasters meeting in 2019, and was impressed by the level of articulation, confidence and charisma displayed by the Toastmaster of the day.

I decided in that meeting that I would attend again, but only as a spectator - lest I be caught out for being an "imposter".

A quote I heard that day stuck with me: "Even the expert was once a beginner".

Every meeting I showed up to, was a wrestling match: Fear vs Courage! With time, I realised that every speaker had faced this at some point.

Through attending meetings consistently and taking up roles, courage subdued fear”.

I strongly recommend Toastmasters - the antidote for fear of public speaking.

This week we kickstart with the one and only, our Vice President of Membership (VPM) Keitumetse Moeketsi. Keitumetse is not just a toastmaster, but an entrepreneur thriving through her communication skills.
