November marks Disability Rights Awareness Month. 1st Darling Scout Group was graced with the presence of a professional social worker, Hannelie Braaff, that assisted Meerkats, Cubs and Scouts to understand differences in abilities amongst all of us and how we need to embrace and include people from all walks of life. The highlight of our awareness session was the visit of Adin Pieters, wing of the South African Deaf rugby team who honoured and inspired us with his journey as a person with a hearing disability.

Winter Camp Adventure!
25-27 July 2025

Last weekend, our scouts embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Hawequas Scout Adventure Centre in Wellington for their Winter survival Camp! They developed essential skills like building fires, outdoor cooking, and teamwork, while exploring the beautiful surroundings. The first night was a challenge - setting up their own shelters using tarps!πŸ™ˆ

Our scouts had a blast learning and growing together. We're proud of their progress, resilience, and spirit!

We're excited to share the highlights and memories from their trip. Stay tuned for photos of their weekend!

1st Darling Scouts had an amazing time at the opening of Park Close, a beautiful project brought to life by Oh so Darling Help n Dorp! πŸŒ³πŸŽ‰ We're proud to have been a part of it, adding some colorful touches by painting cement balls at the park 🎨

The scouts also sang a special song! 🎢 And a huge shoutout to Scouter Alban Petersen for treating us to one of his amazing songs! 🎀

A special mention to our very own Scouter Marius Vlotman, who was part of the committee that made this project a reality! πŸ™Œ We're proud to have him representing our scouting family in such a meaningful way.

The official opening was marked when Sharon Burger, together with Mayor H Cleophas, cut the ribbon! πŸŽ‰βœ‚οΈ We're grateful for the Mayor's inspiring speech and support. A huge thank you to everyone who made this project possible. 🌟
Enjoy our new park.
And a big thank you to the KykNet TV crew for capturing the moment! πŸ“Ί We'll be sure to keep an eye out for the broadcast! πŸ“Ί 1stDarlingScouts

BP Day, also know as Founders Day, is a significant event in the scouting calendar. BP Day commemorates the Birthday of Robert Baden Powel, the founder of the Scouting movement. He was born on February 22nd, 1857.
Scouts across the world get together in their masses to celebrate this day and here in South Africa it is no different.
1st Darling joined the celebration at the Western Province Live steamers which promised a day filled with fun activities, star awards and making new friends.
For 1st Darling it was an extra special moment as our Senior Group Leader, Alban Petersen and our Pack Scouter, Candice Brown both received their Wood Badge, which is the highest award as an Adult Leader. We are Super proud of you!!!
