Meet a Local - Waseema van Boven! 🌼

We’re so proud to see one of our own team members, Waseema van Boven, featured in our local magazine as the Darling Local! Waseema has been part of The Darling Trust family, bringing her heart and dedication to our work in the community every day.

Born in Cape Town and raised just outside Yzerfontein, she’s been firmly rooted in our local community ever since - and we’re lucky to have her on our team. 💛

Read Waseema’s full feature on page 26 of the I Love Yzer Darling Spring Issue.

📖 “Every Child Deserves the Chance to Read”

In this feature, Tasha St John Reid shines a light on The Darling Trust’s Darling Early Literacy Programme (DELP) and Darling Geletterdheid Program (DGP) - helping our youngest learners build the literacy and numeracy foundations they need to thrive.

Working hand in hand with local schools, and guided by the dedicated Tannie Ray Beukman, these programmes are changing the course of a child’s future - one word, one lesson, one learner at a time.

Grab your copy of the I Love Yzer Darling magazine to read the full story! 📰💛

On 10 October, we welcomed Laura from PLAIN SOUL Soundl: Sound Healing Therapy to facilitate a special session at our Baby 2 & Toddler Workshop.

Laura created a calm and peaceful space for our moms and little ones as we relaxed and enjoyed listening to the beautiful variety of sounds and vibrations.

Our kiddos were fascinated by the different sounds and instruments, watching and listening with curiosity as they explored this unique sensory experience. It was lovely to see them engage with the sounds in their own little ways while sharing a peaceful moment with their moms.

A heartfelt thank you to Laura for sharing her time and creating such a special experience for our moms and kiddos. We are grateful for everyone who helps make our First 1000 Days journey so meaningful!

It’s Tannie Evita Bezuidenhout’s 91st birthday! 🎂👑

She celebrated in the best way possible - visiting the Oumas and Oupas at Groeneweide old age home, spreading her signature warmth, glamour and laughter with the residents.

91 years young and still making the Darling community sparkle. Happy birthday, Tannie Evita! 💃💛
