INFORMATION SESSION SUCCESSFULLY HELD IN LIME ACRES

Today, Kgatelopele Youth Development Forum (KYDF) successfully hosted an Information Session at the Lime Acres Rec Club, bringing together young people to receive important updates and information on available development opportunities.

We were honoured to welcome our guest speaker, Mrs Jenine K**k, Community Development Practitioner from the Department of Social Development, who provided valuable feedback regarding the learnership applications and shared information on youth development initiatives and support programmes. Our Chairperson, Mr Kagiso Mosiapoa, also addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of youth participation, personal development, and community involvement.

Objectives of the session:
✅ To provide feedback on learnership opportunities.
✅ To share information about programmes and services offered by KYDF.
✅ To connect young people with available support and development opportunities.
✅ To encourage active community participation and empowerment.

Outcomes:
• Improved awareness of available youth development programmes.
• Increased engagement of young people in community initiatives.
• Better understanding of learnership processes and opportunities.
• Strengthened partnerships between the organization and youth.

Kgatelopele Youth Development Forum recently commenced its Basic Computer Skills Training program aimed at equipping participants with essential computer literacy skills. The training started with rapid typing lessons, where participants were introduced to the computer keyboard and taught how to identify and use different keys correctly.
During the sessions, participants learned proper finger placement, typing posture, and techniques to improve typing speed and accuracy. The training created an interactive and supportive learning environment that encouraged active participation and confidence building among the learners.
The program has already shown positive progress, as participants are becoming more familiar and comfortable with using computers. This foundational training will assist them in developing further digital skills that can improve their educational, employment, and personal development opportunities.

Kgatelopele Youth Development Forum successfully hosted a Masculinity and Femininity Programme on the 20th of March 2026. The purpose of the programme was to create a safe space for young people to engage in meaningful discussions about gender roles, identity, respect, and healthy relationships. The session aimed to challenge harmful stereotypes and promote positive values within the community.
2. Objectives of the Programme
The main objectives of the programme were:
To educate participants on the concepts of masculinity and femininity.
To challenge negative gender stereotypes and societal expectations.
To promote gender equality and mutual respect.
To encourage healthy communication and relationships among youth.
3. Programme Activities
The programme included interactive discussions, group activities, and presentations. Participants were divided into groups where they discussed how society defines masculinity and femininity and how these definitions impact their daily lives. Facilitators guided conversations on topics such as respect, gender-based violence, emotional expression, and personal responsibility. Role-playing activities were also conducted to help participants understand real-life situations and appropriate responses.
4. Participation and Attendance
The programme was attended by youth from the local community, with both male and female participants actively engaging in discussions. The level of participation was high, and attendees showed great interest in the topics presented.
5. Outcomes and Impact
The programme was successful in raising awareness about gender issues and promoting positive behavioral change. Participants expressed a better understanding of respect, equality, and the importance of breaking harmful stereotypes. Many shared personal experiences, which helped create a supportive and open environment.

All interested candidates 18 to 35 years with grade 11 or Gr12 who are interested in a telecommunications learnership. Can drop their CVs at the Dsd office in Danielskuil for Jenine's attention. Each person must drop his or her own CV to sign a register.

Only 30 participants will be selected for the training
