🐝 LESS THAN A MONTH TO GO! ⏰🏆

We’re officially 21 days away from the 2026 Camp I Am Spelling BeeHive Finale in collaboration with the Johannesburg South District, GDE! 🎉

The Spelling BeeHive™ is more than memorising words. Designed for the Senior Phase and currently running with Grade 7 and 8 learners, it's a four-competition literacy programme challenging them to spell, define, and apply CAPS words across the curriculum. Along the way, they build creativity, confidence, and communication skills. 📚✍🏽🎤🎭

Learners compete in:
🐝 Spelling BeeHive: Financial Literacy Challenge
Spell It. Know It. Use It.
✍🏽 Creative Writing: Flex in Context
🎤 Debate: Eloquent Elocution
🎭 Drama & Storytelling: Show and Tell It

The Semi-Finals take place on 12 September, followed by the Finale on 19 September. 🏆

🐝 SWB Spotlight: Lesterinah Ramaboya

Meet Lesterinah Ramaboya, one of Camp I Am's Spelling Worker Bees, supporting learners at Thuthukani Tswelopele Primary School in Johannesburg South, in her own community.

Lesterinah started as an Education Assistant in 2025 under the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative. When the programme ended, she stayed on as a volunteer. Why? Because, in her own words, Finetown is home.

Teacher Ma'am Boitumelo Makoatsoa has come to rely on her ever since:
"Lesterinah has been a great help. I couldn't have done this alone. She has been doing the spelling bee competition with me since last year, which made me trust her fully with my learners. She has been consistent, and she makes sure that she does what needs to be done."

That's dedication that shows up whether or not anyone's watching, and that's what makes a Spelling Worker Bee. 🐝

🐝 Word of the Week: COMPETITIVE

💡 Spelling Tip: Break it into syllables: com-pet-i-tive. Breaking the word into smaller parts can make it easier to remember.

Competition isn't only about winning. It's also about challenging yourself, giving it your best and seeing what you can achieve.

Our 2026 competitions are just around the corner, and we're excited to see our learners rise to the challenge. 🐝

Young voices matter. 🗣️💛

Camp I Am creates spaces for young people to learn, express themselves and build their confidence. Whether it's spelling a new word, expressing an idea, making an argument in a debate, or bringing a story to life, every competition gives learners an opportunity to develop and use their voice.

Today on International Youth Day, we share 5 tips for young voices to speak with confidence that can make a big difference.

Confidence doesn't always mean having the loudest voice in the room. Sometimes, it simply means having the courage to use your voice when it matters.

Your voice has value. Use it. 🐝

Today, we celebrate the remarkable women who shape young minds, nurture potential and inspire the next generation to dream bigger.

At Camp I Am, we are privileged to be surrounded by mothers, grandmothers, teachers, volunteers, mentors, and community leaders who dedicate their time, care, and wisdom to helping children grow into confident readers, learners, and future leaders.

Your encouragement builds confidence. Your guidance opens doors. Your commitment creates opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

This Women's Day, we honour every woman who continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children we serve. Thank you for leading with compassion, serving with purpose and reminding every child that they are capable of achieving great things.

Happy Women's Day to all the incredible women in the Camp I Am community.

Sometimes the most important lessons aren't the ones we teach, but the ones we learn. 💛

Grade 10 learner Catherine Buthelezi volunteered at the Camp I Am Spelling BeeHive Holiday Programme, stepping outside her own world to discover something powerful: no matter our circumstances, we all share the same hopes, determination, and potential. 🐝
