Sexual offenses related to animals are a subject that is often not spoken about but is a cruel fact that many animals have to endure. Animals are silent. They can not testify or identify their offenders.

The act of be******ty is defined as engaging in sexual acts with any animal. This may be unbelievable to some but once again became the reality for the Bloemfontein community after a video circulated of a man spreading peanut butter on his ge****ls to entice his dog to lick the affected area.

The Inspectorate of the Bloemfontein SPCA received the video, and having nothing more than a video launched an extensive investigation to find the perpetrator. After a thorough investigation, an arrest followed.

The accused and author of the video is set to make his first court appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court in the next few days.

The Inspectors of the Bloemfontein SPCA and SAPS executed his arrest on the 23rd of August. The animals on the property have also been seized and remain in the safe custody of Bloemfontein SPCA.

“It is clear to me that people who make themselves guilty of these acts are nothing more than predators. They should face judgment for inciting a non consenting and oblivious party to engage in sexual acts for gratification” said Inspector Werner Botha.

Be******ty as a crime faces severe punishments as set out in the Sexual Offenses and Related Matters Amendment Act 32 of 2007. The sentence for the crime is suited as many practitioners of be******ty are often linked to more serious and indiscriminate sexual crimes. They are furthermore likely to commit multiple sexual offences and are prone to be habitual offenders.

The Bloemfontein SPCA Inspectorate will attend the matter in court this week and hope to secure a successful conviction.
