Cat Conservation Trust

Cat Conservation Trust We work with the black footed cat, african wild cat, serval and caracal. We promote ecosystem approaches to all issues.

We are one of the few black footed cat centres in South Africa that are internationally recognised.

Cat rescused by the Black Footed Cat Working Group (BFCWG) on 01 Apr. He was brought to us by them on Good Friday. It was touch and go for a while. We are still not out of the woods yet but I am cautiously confident of the prognosis now.

HAVE YOU SEEN A BLACK-FOOTED CAT?
Small-spotted cat - Miershooptier - Felis nigripes
Nocturnal, shy and rarely seen, this unique wild cat species is often misidentified as an African wildcat or small-spotted genet.
Unique features include: 1/3 size of housecat, large head and prominent ears, spotted coat pattern, short tail and crouching gait. Bright blueish eyes shine close to ground at night.
We need your help to collect distribution records across its range.
Please fill out the online survey [QR in poster attached] and please send any images/ videos to [email protected].

Thank you 🐾
