1st Belvedere Scouts

1st Belvedere is a Scout Group situated in Kenwyn. The group is a member of SCOUTS South Africa a The group started first in 2015 and has since grown in numbers.

1st Belvedere Scouts is an active scout group that are experienced and motivated who regularly attract media attention due to the activities we are involved in. The group is a member of SCOUTS South Africa and actively participates in Regional and District events. We currently have one active sectors operating at 1st Belvedere Scouts: Scouts (Ages 11-17). Here at 1st Belvedere Scouts we strive to

deliver excellent activities that are well thought out and planned thoroughly which enables our young scouts to excel in the areas of scouting and personal development. Scouting changes lives and helps children and young adults to reach their full potential. Leadership abilities, teamwork, self-motivation, commitment, perseverance, environmental and cultural awareness and strong values are just a few of the life skills our members acquire whilst having fun and ‘learning by doing’. Positive peer pressure and outdoor activities all contribute to individuals growing up with the belief that they can and are changing the world in order to leave it a better place than how they found it. Education for Life:
Scouting compliments the school and the family by developing self-knowledge, the need to explore, to discover, to want to know and to learn visual skills. An experience in leadership:
Scouting offers young people a unique opportunity to be trained in leadership and to practice the acquired leadership skills. This is done by focusing on group work (patrols) and progressively allowing young people to take charge of (to lead) their groups. Based on a system of values:
The Scout programme which promotes leadership is based on a system of values such as honesty, loyalty, obedience, cleanliness, trust, helpfulness, brotherhood, courtesy...

International:
Scouting has never stopped growing since its founding in 1907. Today there are more than 40 million members in more than 162 countries and territories. Open to all:
Scouting is open to all young men and women from the age of seven, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by its founder Robert Baden-Powell. A method:

Making a personal commitment
- to a simple code of living: the Scout Promise and Law. Learning by doing
- active participation, with others

Working in small groups
- in patrols to develop leadership, group skills, and individual responsibility

Stimulating programmes
- progressive activities based on the interests of young people. Activities in contact with nature, a rich learning environment where simplicity, creativity and discovery come together to provide adventure and challenge. A code of living:
A spiritual dimension
- A commitment to seek the spiritual value of life beyond the material world. A social dimension
- participating in the development of society, respecting the dignity of others and the integrity of the natural world.

At 1st Belvedere, Friday nights aren't about screens. They're about experiences.

One week they're racing through an Amazing Race challenge.
The next they're learning survival skills.
Then they're competing in patrol games, heading off on hikes, attending camps, giving back to the community, or creating memories that they'll still be talking about years later. 💛

Because childhood should be filled with adventure.
Not notifications.

The truth is, years from now they won't remember the videos they watched.

They'll remember:
🌧️ The days they got muddy.
🥾 The hikes where their legs were tired but they made it to the top.
🔥 The campfires, the laughs, and the friendships.
⚜️ The moments that challenged them and helped them grow.
💛 The memories they lived, not just watched.

They'll remember 1st Belvedere.

🤝🌙 More Than a Parcel. More Than a Delivery. 🌙🤝

During the blessed month of Ramadaan, our Cubs and Scouts came together to make a difference in the lives of others. 💛

Working as a team, they helped pack food parcels for underprivileged families, carefully preparing each parcel with the hope that it would bring some comfort and relief to those in need. 📦✨

But the experience didn't end there. Our young people then went out into the community and personally helped deliver the parcels, witnessing firsthand the impact that kindness, generosity, and service can have on others. 🤲❤️

In a world that often focuses on what we can receive, these Cubs and Scouts spent their time focusing on what they could give. And that's a lesson far more valuable than any badge. ⚜️

This is what Scouting is about:

🌟 Making a positive difference in our communities

We are incredibly proud of every Cub and Scout who took part in this initiative and lived out the true spirit of Ramadaan through action.

🚫📺 Kids don't remember their best days on screens.

They don't remember the Saturday they spent scrolling.
They don't remember the video they watched for the fifth time.
They don't remember the game level they completed three years ago.

But they do remember...

🌧️ The days they got muddy.
🥾 The hikes where their legs were tired, but they made it to the top.
🔥 The campfires, the laughs, and the friendships.
🏕️ The camps they couldn't stop talking about for weeks afterwards.
⚜️ The moments that challenged them, shaped them, and helped them grow.

🌿🥾 Advancement in Action at Newlands Forest! 🥾🌿

Our Cubs recently headed out to Newlands Forest, where every step of the journey brought them closer to achieving their advancement goals. 🦊⚜️

From observing nature and practising outdoor skills to building confidence on the trail, the hike was packed with opportunities for learning and growth. Along the way, the Cubs challenged themselves, supported one another, and discovered that advancement isn't just about earning badges — it's about developing skills, character, and a love for adventure. 🌳💪

The beautiful surroundings of Newlands Forest provided the perfect classroom, proving once again that some of the best learning happens outdoors. 🌿✨

A huge well done to all our Cubs for their enthusiasm, determination, and willingness to embrace every challenge along the way! 💛

🏅⚜️ Recognising Years of Service to Scouting ⚜️🏅

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of celebrating two dedicated leaders whose commitment and service have helped shape the lives of countless young people. 💛

🌟 Scouter Asmaa was presented with her 5-Year Service Award, recognising five years of dedication, leadership, and unwavering support to our Scouts, Rovers, and the wider Scouting community.

🌟 Scouter Adeeb was presented with his 15-Year Service Award, marking an incredible fifteen years of volunteering, mentoring, and investing in the next generation of leaders.

Together, that's 20 years of service spent creating adventures, developing confidence, building character, and making a difference in the lives of young people. ⚜️

While camps, hikes, and competitions often take the spotlight, it's the commitment of volunteers like Scouter Asmaa and Scouter Adeeb that makes these opportunities possible. Their impact extends far beyond meetings and events — it lives on in every young person they've inspired along the way. 💛

From all of us at 1st Belvedere, thank you for your dedication, leadership, and service. We are proud to have you as part of our Scouting family.

🎣🌅 Good Company, Great Conversations, and a Few Fishing Lessons! 🌅🎣

Not every Rover activity needs to be an expedition or a service project. Sometimes, the best memories are made by slowing down, spending time together, and learning something new. ⚜️💛

Our Rover Crew recently spent time at Zandvlei, enjoying a relaxed social while learning about the basics of fishing. 🎣

With the water as our backdrop, the crew shared stories, enjoyed plenty of laughs, and picked up new skills in a laid-back atmosphere. It was a great reminder that Rovering is about more than just activities—it's about building friendships, creating memories, and enjoying the journey together. 🌊✨

The best moments aren't always the biggest adventures. Sometimes they're the simple ones: good company, fresh air, and conversations that last long after the day is over. 🌅

🔥✨ Hundreds of Voices. One Campfire. One Unforgettable Night. ✨🔥

Songs echoed through the night. Laughter filled the air. Scouts from across the district came together to celebrate one of the most iconic traditions in Scouting — the District Campfire hosted by 1st Naruna and Constantia. 🏕️🌙

From our youngest Cubs to our Scouts and Rovers, every section of 1st Belvedere was there, singing, performing, cheering, and creating memories that will last long after the fire has gone out. 💛⚜️

There's something special about a Scout campfire. No phones. No screens. Just people, stories, songs, and friendships being built around the flames. 🔥

For many of our members, these are the moments they'll remember years from now:
🌟 The songs they sang at the top of their lungs
🌟 The skits that had everyone laughing
🌟 The friendships made across different groups
🌟 The feeling of being part of something bigger

✈️🌤️ Taking Scouting to New Heights! 🌤️✈️

A huge well done to Nuha for taking part in the recent Air Activities badge courses held at Morningstar Airfield! 🚀⚜️

Through courses like Air Navigator and Air Traffic Controller, Scouts get the opportunity to explore exciting new skills and experiences far beyond the regular meeting hall. From aviation knowledge to practical teamwork and communication, these activities open doors to entirely new interests and passions. 💡✈️

At 1st Belvedere, we’re proud that our Scouts have access to a wide range of activities, adventures, and specialised badge courses — giving them opportunities to grow, challenge themselves, and discover what they’re capable of. 🌟

We strongly encourage our Scouts to attend badge courses whenever possible — you never know where one course or one experience might lead you! 💛

And the best part?
Air Activities are taking off again in the Western Cape, with even more opportunities expected later in the year! 👀🔥

🦊🥾 Cubs at the District Hike! 🥾🦊

Our Cubs had an awesome time at the District Hike, making the most of every moment outdoors! 🌿☀️

From working on advancements and building their skills to splashing around and playing in the river, it was the perfect mix of learning and fun. 💪💦

Days like these are what Cubs is all about — exploring nature, growing in confidence, and creating memories with friends along the way. 🌟

Well done to all our Cubs for their energy and enthusiasm — you made it a fantastic day! 💛
