‘AquAzzurra Foundation and TriMaris Partner to Revitalise Open Water Swimming in the Western Cape
CAPE TOWN, South Africa — The AquAzzurra Foundation is pleased to announce its return as a core partner for the Open Water League, joining forces with TriMaris Aquatics Dubai in collaboration with local clubs, coaches, athletes, and regional aquatic authorities.
Following a two-year interval, the renewed alliance brings fresh resources and international expertise to build safe, professionally managed, and inclusive open-water events across the Western Cape—supporting everyone from novice swimmers to elite competitors.
Under the partnership, the AquAzzurra Foundation will direct a social impact, grass-roots development, water safety, girls’ participation, and access for underserved communities. TriMaris Aquatics Dubai will contribute international event expertise, commercial sponsorship development, and talent pathways linking South African athletes to opportunities in the UAE and Europe.
“AquAzzurra has always believed that sustainable progress comes through cooperation,” said Maria Barbàra. “We are proud to return to the Open Water League alongside TriMaris Aquatics Dubai, working hand-in-hand with coaches, clubs, and aquatic authorities. We come with deep respect for existing structures, a willingness to listen, and a shared determination to create meaningful opportunities for South African swimmers.”
The Open Water League will operate in full alignment with the rules and governance of South Africa’s recognized aquatic bodies. The overarching goal is not merely staging events, but strengthening the long-term pathway from grassroots club swimming to national representation.
Details regarding the event calendar, venues, registration procedures, and safety protocols will be released following the completion of sanctioning and stakeholder consultations. TriMaris Aquatics AquaDolphin aqua_dolphin_ow_distance_squad
