Earlier this week we caught up with Kate. Now, meet Emma De Smidt from AquaDolphin – who is also heading off to Italy this month for an elite training camp with Olympic legend Federica Pellegrini and coach Matteo Giunta. 🇮🇹

Geared up and ready to hit the water, here’s what this incredible opportunity means to Emma:

Kate Cheshire - from Mandeville Dolphins - is one of two incredible swimmers heading off to Italy this month, for an elite training camp with Olympic legend Federica Pellegrini and coach Matteo Giunta. 🇮🇹

We caught up with Kate to find out what this opportunity means to her:

“Going to Italy means more than just travelling. It’s an opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, experience a different swimming environment, and challenge myself both personally and as an athlete.”

“I’m really excited to work under an Olympian and learn from someone with such an incredible level of experience and achievement. I’ll be receiving guidance from coaches who can truly help elevate my swimming.”

Huge congratulations to Coach Phila on being selected for a World Aquatics (formerly FINA) scholarship to participate in the International Swimming Coaches Certification Course! 🏊‍♂️🇿🇦

As a foundation, we are incredibly proud of Coach P as he proudly represents South Africa. The program includes an e-learning phase followed by an intensive face-to-face session in Eswatini from October 11 to 18, 2026.

We wish him the very best on this exciting journey!

On South Africa’s Women’s day, we celebrate the courage to keep going.
There is a special kind of strength in choosing not to give up. In sport, as in life, not every day brings a victory. Sometimes we fall, sometimes we doubt ourselves, sometimes the finish line feels further away than we imagined.
And yet, we rise.
Sports reminds women and girls that strength is not only measured in medals or records. It is found in discipline, perseverance, courage and confidence to try one more.
Every training session, every challenge overcome and every small personal victory we can build something that last far beyond the playing field: self-esteem and belief in our potential.
When a woman believes in herself, she carries that confidence into her education, her work, her family and her community. And when we encourage a girl to participate, to persevere and to believe that she is capable, we are investing in the woman, and the future, she will one day help shape.
This 9 August, we honour the remarkable women of South Africa and the generations whose courage opened the doors for those who followed.
May we also celebrate every woman still finding her strength, every girl discovering her potential, and every person who encourages them along the way.
Don’t give up, keep moving, keep dreaming, believe in yourself.

When community comes together, real change happens. 🌍 Today, we’re celebrating a powerful collaboration rooted in Ubuntu – The AquAzzurra Foundation, Westlake Primary School, the Westlake Taxi Association and Cllr Carolynne Franklin (Ward 71) uniting with one mission: ensuring over 150 Grade R and Grade 1 children become water safe by 2027.

“Every child has the right to play safely around water. Economic circumstances should never stand between a child and what is fundamentally a human right,” says Mina Barbara Manoussakis, CEO and Founder of AquAzzurra Foundation South Africa and TriMaris Aquatics

South Africa’s drowning statistics are heartbreaking, but they’re not inevitable.

“I believe every child, regardless of their economic background, should be water safe by age six,” Mina continues. “This is only possible because of partners who share our vision – Ms Tracey Petersen, Cllr Carolynne Franklin, and the Westlake Taxi Association have embraced this mission wholeheartedly, and together, we’re turning it into reality.”

This is what happens when leaders show up, when communities rally together, and when we refuse to accept that any child’s safety should be determined by their circumstances.

Together, we’re not just teaching children to swim – we’re safeguarding futures. 🤝

It is my greatest pleasure to announce the full registration of the Foundation in Dubai (UAE). The Foundation will trade under the name of TriMaris Aquatic Alliance ((L-4705 , Reg nr 4578), offices at the DWTC free zone ratifying the alliance and cooperation within South Africa, Emirates and Italy. Swimmers will have endless opportunities to reach their dreams. A big thank you to my lawyer .oushaa who believed in our mission and vision 🇦🇪
