This weekend 1st Durbanville hosted a Cub Hiking Trailblazer Challenge at Eversdal Trimpark, with 9 teams competing from four packs (1st Durbanville, 1st Somerset West, 2nd Plumstead and 1st Claremont). Teams had a fun afternoon hiking a trail doing bases and STA’s along the way. The event was won by

We love to ! This week was the second installment, led by the wardens from , and Jemma took this group selfie on the summit of Lion's Head. Scouts learn about their environment and participate in citizen science using the iNaturalist app to record nature observations as part of the Conservation Badge course. This year scouts attended observation sessions on a beautiful spring day in several different locations. Each year, Scouts in South Africa contribute a significant number of observations to iNaturalist.

Hawequas was packed with activity during the long weekend in September, with future leaders taking part in the Patrol Leader Training Course (PLTC). The course introduces participants to the next level in teamwork and leadership, a core aim of the Scout programme, all in an outdoor setting with plenty of camping skills being put to use, from cooking to teamwork to pioneering.

It's October and it's Thursday so it's time to ! Plenty of Scouts got together this evening to brave the windy and misty conditions and made it to the summit of Lions Head for a group photo. Join us again over the next four Thursday evenings to show off your purple!

The Scout Warrant course qualifies adult leaders to run a Scout Troop - not just in theory but very much through practical, hands on training! On the second and final weekend of the course, candidates camped, cooked, competed and took part in a range of challenges at Hawequas. They also got their hands dirty (literally) and made a valuable contribution by clearing a stream damaged in floods that hit the site recently. Well done to our newly qualified leaders - and thank you to our volunteer training team! You make it all happen.
