Saturday, 1 August, saw a team of 13 female YeboScouters join the Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC) and Ullman Sails Women's Cruise.

It was a day filled with fun, goodie bags, lucky draws, giveaways and an inspiring talk by the female crew of The crew, who hail from the Cape Flats communities, made history by winning the 2025/2026 transatlantic race. They crossed 3 300 nautical miles with a boat boom that broke mid-Atlantic!

YeboScouters then joined the JML Rotary Scout to explore careers in the maritime industry.

Lisakhanya Hlobo from our Khayelitsha cluster shared the following about her experience on the day:
'Thank you so much for the incredible Scouts excursion!
It was such an eye-opening and memorable experience. Learning about the cruise, how it operates behind the scenes, and even getting to understand the basics of driving it was absolutely amazing.

The highlight for me was the Women’s Day presentation about the yacht journey. Hearing the women speak about their resilience, courage, teamwork, and determination through such tough conditions. It truly inspired me.

I left feeling motivated, empowered, and so proud to be part of Scouts. It reminded me of the strength we have as young women and what we can achieve together. Thank you again for giving us this opportunity. It’s one I’ll never forget!'

Today marks the start of our Scouting in Schools hiking programme, running alongside our Intaka Island environmental excursions. Across the Metro and George, learners will experience the outdoors through hikes at Appleton Scout Campsite and Lion's Head. Our partnerships with schools help YeboScouts discover the value of teamwork, resilience, and a deeper connection with nature.

We are especially excited to celebrate our Delft Cluster, which joins the programme for the very first time this year! Bringing these outdoor experiences to learners in Delft is an important milestone, opening doors to adventure, confidence, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Here's to new trails, new experiences, and new opportunities to grow!

Saturday, 25 July, marked the beginning of another exciting season of environmental discovery as our Woodville Primary YeboScouts step outside the classroom to experience the incredible biodiversity of Intaka Island.

This valued partnership goes beyond the sanctuary itself. Through the Rangers on the Road programme, Intaka Island will also be bringing environmental education directly into selected schools, ensuring that even learners who are unable to visit the sanctuary can experience the wonders of nature through interactive classroom presentations.

Together, we are inspiring the next generation to appreciate, protect, and care for the environment, one learner, one classroom, and one adventure at a time.

Welcome back in Term 3!

Our YeboScouts started the term with falling-in and energisers that brought energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork to the first session.
We cannot wait to see what this term has in store as we continue building leaders and creating lifelong memories.

As we pause to reflect, we are reminded that youth development happens through experiences that leave a lasting impact.

Over the past three weeks, our Mentors and YeBoScouters brought joy and adventure to learners during the Holiday Programme, embraced meaningful job shadowing opportunities that developed workplace skills and career awareness, did training for Term 3's exciting programme and concluded by honouring Nelson Mandela's legacy through acts of service that strengthened our communities.

Each experience has helped shape confident young people who are ready to lead, serve, and make a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to our Mentors, YeBoScouters, schools, the organisations, NGO's and community partners making these weeks memorable. Here's to carrying this momentum into the new school term.

Leading up to Mandela Day, the Scouting in Schools Mentors and YeBoScouters honour Madiba's legacy through meaningful service across the Metro and George.

From supporting soup kitchens in Heinz Park, partnering with local NGO and introducing Heideveld to SIS through a Community Fun Day, taking part in Operation 67 Minutes of Impact, to community clean-ups in Harare and iLitha Park, and spending time serving at old age homes in Langa and Khayelitsha, our teams demonstrated that leadership begins with service.

Every act, no matter how small, contributes to stronger communities and brighter futures.

Together, we are not just remembering Nelson Mandela's legacy, we are living it.

Learning, laughter, and leadership came together on Day 4!

Our YeBoScouters put their teamwork and Scoutcraft skills to the test through fun games and knot relays—including the challenge of mastering knots with just one hand! The day also focused on implementing a meaningful Mandela Day activation, reminding us that service is at the heart of everything we do.
