As we commemorate Youth Day and reflect on 50 years since the Soweto Uprising of 1976, we honour the young people whose courage and determination helped shape South Africa's future.

Their legacy lives on through today's generation of active citizens.

As Board Chairperson Dr Chrischar Rock reminds us, courage is not only found in protest. It is also found in service.

Thank you to every YeBoneer, past and present, for helping build stronger communities and brighter futures.

Happy Youth Day.

Khayelitsha 2 and 3 clusters celebrated the young people who are shaping the future through service, leadership, well-being, and active citizenship during with a 1970's vintage twist.

More than 50 years into a journey of change and progress, our youth continue to show that positive action starts with small steps. Whether that's caring for the environment, supporting one another, or developing new skills.

Keep an eye on our page as we share more stories and highlights from our Youth Month activities across the Scouting in Schools programme

Growth happens both inside and out.

Mitchell's Plain clusters 1 and 3 chose to do community clean-ups, encouraging young people to learn the value of caring for their environment, while also taking time to reflect, reset, appreciate and prioritise their own well-being as we reach the middle of the year.

They were asked to reflect on the legacy that they would like to build and ended on this note:

Footprints Legacy

May my foot steps make history.
May it pave the road out for those that think there is no success for them.
May it bring a change in people's lives.
These are foot steps of positivity.

Caring for our communities starts with caring for ourselves.

Making a difference, one garden bed and one clean-up at a time.

The Mitchell's Plain 4 cluster rolled up their sleeves to beautify their environment through a clean-up and gardening project.

By caring for their surroundings, these young people are demonstrating responsibility, teamwork, and active citizenship in action.

Small actions can create lasting change. Scouts South Africa Western Cape Scouts #

This , we celebrate young people and the importance of investing in their holistic well-being.

Physical activity does more than strengthen our bodies. It supports mental health, builds resilience, reduces stress, and helps young people develop the confidence to face life's challenges.

Our Mitchell's Plain 2 cluster is spending time at the gym today, exploring the connection between physical and mental wellness while having fun together.

This is just one of the many ways our young people are celebrating . Stay tuned as we share activities and stories throughout the month!

A huge thank you to this exceptional First Aid Team namely; Jonathan Webb, Emily Gammon, Anthony Carr, Estee Lazarus, Susan Gammon and Robbie Schreiber for delivering such an engaging and practical First Aid training course for our Scouting in Schools Mentors.

Mentors learnt so much, gained valuable skills, and are incredibly proud of their certificates! More importantly, the training has already given them confidence to step in and assist others when needed.

The knowledge and experience shared during the course are truly invaluable in the work we do with young people and our communities. Thank you for equipping us with skills that can make a real difference when it matters most!

A special thank you to 1st Claremont Scouts and Scouter from 6th Rondebosch Scout Group who volunteered for the emergency scenarios and Marc Gammon for the special effects! Scouts South Africa

Day 2 of YeBoneer training saw our participants up on their feet, learning through doing, the Scout way.

From teamwork challenges and knotting skills to some highly competitive chariot races, the day was filled with energy, laughter, and problem-solving.

Learning, leading, and having fun along the way...this is just the beginning of the adventure! Scouts South Africa
