🇧🇼 60 Years of Independence. 60 Years of becoming.

Today, we celebrate more than a nation’s independence. We celebrate the courage, resilience, and spirit of Botho that have carried Botswana through six decades.

From the foundations laid by those who came before us to the dreams being shaped by young Batswana today, our story continues to be written.

At Dream Factory Foundation, we believe the heart of Botswana’s future is its people, especially its young people. We are inspired by the youth and entrepreneurial spirit of Batswana, and we remain committed to supporting the visionaries and trailblazers who will continue to drive progress for generations to come.

As we mark 60 years of independence, may we honor where we have come from, embrace where we are, and believe deeply in where we can go.

The next chapter of Botswana’s story is ours to write. Together, with Botho at heart. ❤️🇧🇼

Happy 60th Independence Day, Botswana!

She came to Botswana to intern. She left with a year she’ll never forget. 🇩🇪🇧🇼❤️

In September 2025, Zoe Brandt arrived in Botswana for a 12-month journey with us. Now back in Germany, she reflects on a year of learning, creating, teaching, connecting, and growing.

Along the way, she strengthened her skills in social media management, content creation, and video editing, while turning her love for art into something she could share with others.

Through Art Class, Zoe taught children in Francistown, shared her creativity, and created some of her most cherished memories.

But beyond the professional skills, what stayed with her most was witnessing the impact being made in the lives of young people and women in Botswana and across Africa and having the chance to be part of it.

She arrived with ideas and a vision and found the space to explore, create, learn and grow.

Zoe, thank you for embracing this journey, embracing Botswana, and giving so much of yourself along the way. Thank you for sharing your gifts with our young people and for becoming part of our family.

Your 12 months may be over, but this is only the beginning of what you will create. 🌍✨

Meet Lily! 👋🏽 Our 18-year-old intern from Göttingen, Germany, who has chosen to spend the next 12 months with Dream Factory Foundation in Botswana.

For Lily, this journey is about more than volunteering. She’s here to experience a new culture, meet new people, learn, and support children and women as they work towards their goals.

When she’s not volunteering, Lily enjoys riding her bicycle, playing the piano, and spending time with friends and family.

And as she helps others pursue their dreams, she hopes this experience will also help her discover new ways to reach her own. ✨

Welcome to Botswana and Dream Factory, Lily! 🇧🇼❤️

We’re excited to have you on this journey with us!

She’s 19, from Germany, and she’s spending the next 12 months in Botswana! 🇩🇪🇧🇼

Meet Merle Schloz, our first intern introduction! 👋🏽

After finishing high school in Gomaringen, Germany, Merle decided to spend her gap year with Dream Factory Foundation in Francistown, and she’s ready for a year of learning, exploring, serving and growing.

She’s hoping to build her confidence, experience personal growth, meet new people and see more of Botswana along the way.

And most importantly? ❤️
She’s looking forward to working with young people and helping them discover their potential, become assets to the world and live purpose-driven lives.

After her gap year, Merle plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science.

Welcome to Botswana and Dream Factory, Merle! 🇧🇼✨

As we begin a new week, we’re still reflecting on the incredible journey our young stars at Dream World Academy have been on through Taekwondo.

What started as weekly sessions became so much more than learning defensive skills. It became a journey of confidence, discipline, courage and growth. A foundation was built, confidence was strengthened, and most importantly, a spark was ignited, one we hope they will carry with them as they grow.

Seeing our young graduates proudly holding their certificates brings so much warmth to our hearts. To us, these moments are a reminder that skills development is not just about what young people learn but also about who they become along the way.

A special thank you to Dream World Academy for opening its doors and allowing us to be part of this journey. Thank you for believing in the power of giving young people opportunities to learn, grow and discover themselves.

To our graduates, we are so proud of you. This is only the beginning. ❤️🥋

What happens when we stop seeing opportunity as something we receive only for ourselves?

We recently gathered at Love Botswana Launch Center in Maun for a meaningful conversation about Botho and our responsibility to ensure that what is poured into us doesn’t stop with us.

The conversation centred on three connected ideas:

CREATE SPACE — making room for others to be seen, supported and given the opportunity to thrive.

POUR INTO OTHERS — sharing our knowledge, experience, networks and lessons to contribute to someone else’s growth.

PAY IT FORWARD — using what we’ve received to open doors, create opportunities and support the next person.

Together, they remind us that impact is not a destination. It’s a cycle.

Someone creates space for you.
Someone pours into you.
You grow.
Then you become the person who does the same for someone else.

That is Botho in action, recognising that our growth is connected to the growth of others.

A special thank you to our speakers Jana Baker Lackey, Dr Didi and Samantha Hughes, our cohort, and everyone who contributed to a powerful conversation about the communities we can build when we choose to invest in one another. 💛

Who created space for you?
Who poured into you?
And who are you paying it forward to?
