Sustainable Ceder Restoring our Cederberg connection by facilitating Cedar Tree planting & empowering local communities

The Cederberg is situated in the Western Cape (South Africa)250km North of Cape Town in 180000 hectares of mountainous terrain. The origin Cederberg name was given from the local endemic Ceder trees that naturally occurs here. There are currently estimated that there is only about 13000 Ceder trees left and that they are now on the brick of extinction. Their numbers are now too low to be sustainable or regenerate for the future ahead.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Tourvest Destination Management for their generous contribution of 755 trees and ongoing support, and to the South African Reforestation Trust for their continued partnership and commitment to our cause.



And off they go again. Our partner since 2013, Tourvest Destination Management just donated to the Sustainable Ceder project again so that another 755 Clanwilliam Cedars trees can be planted out in the Cederberg Conservancy. The project to re-establish a healthy population of this iconic and endangered tree is an elaborate process which involves long hikes through rough terrain with tailor made back packs.
