Dear friends and followers, I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY ANYMORE. 💔

As I sit here looking at the NPC bank account, with a balance of MINUS R4, I honestly don’t know what to say or where to turn anymore.

How do I keep going when there is literally nothing left in the account to carry on with this sanctuary?

I have asked for help. I have shared our needs. I have tried to explain what it takes to keep The Cat House NPC going. I have thanked every person who has stood by us, and I have celebrated every little bit of help that has come our way.

But today, I find myself wondering if there is anything left I can say that would make someone want to help us.

Perhaps people are tired of hearing about our struggles. Perhaps everyone is struggling in their own lives. I understand that. The economy is making life harder for so many people, and I know that there is only so much anyone can give.

But the cats don’t understand any of this.

They don’t understand bank balances, the cost of living, or why donations have become so scarce. They only know that this is their home. They know the sound of the food bowls, the comfort of a familiar place, and the person who comes back every day to care for them.

And I keep coming back. Even when I’m exhausted. Even when I’m worried. Even when I don’t know how we’re going to manage the next day.

But love alone cannot buy food, litter, medication, or pay the bills that keep this sanctuary operating.

I have more than 130 lives depending on this sanctuary. These are cats who have nowhere else to go, cats who depend on us for their safety, their food, and their daily care.

So I have to ask myself the question that breaks my heart:

What decision am I left with when there is simply no money left to keep going? Friends of this humble Cat House who has kept us going over the last couple of years simply cant do it alone, not with the way prices and everything has increased.

Do I let them go? And where do I let them go?

Do I ask someone to take them? Who? Which rescue has the space, the money, and the resources to take in so many cats when they are all fighting their own battles?

Who do I ask to remove them from here, and where would they go?

I don’t have an answer to these questions. I only know that I cannot pretend this situation isn’t becoming desperate.

I never expected that asking for help would become something I would have to do over and over again just to keep a sanctuary alive. I never imagined sitting with a negative bank balance and wondering how I could possibly continue caring for the very lives I have worked so hard to protect.

I’m not writing this to make anyone feel guilty. I know times are tough. I know everyone has their own responsibilities.

I’m writing this because I have reached a point where I no longer know what else to do.

I cannot carry this sanctuary on hope alone. I cannot keep filling the gaps with money that isn’t there. And I cannot simply walk away from more than 140 cats who depend on me.

If you have ever wondered whether your R50, R100, or R200 could make a difference, please know that right now, every single contribution matters. Small donations add up. A few people giving a little can make the difference between an account that remains empty and one that allows us to buy what the cats need.

If you cannot contribute financially, please share this appeal. Perhaps someone who sees it will be in a position to help. Perhaps together we can find a way forward.

The Cat House NPC needs help. Not tomorrow, not when things get worse, but now.

I don’t have impressive words anymore. I don’t have a clever campaign or a promise that everything will be fine.

I have an empty account, a sanctuary full of cats, and a heart that is breaking at the thought of not being able to give them what they need.

All I can do is ask one more time.

Please, if you can help us keep this sanctuary going, help us.

Because I don’t know where else these fur children are supposed to go.

And I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do. 💔

Dry food is stocked up thanks to Sue, tins and other wet food is not going to last into the coming weekend. Litter sand has to be topped up and wages for anyone worker is out of the question. Fuel is okay for maybe two trips into town and back. Vet fees non existent. I have stocked up on Doxycycline for whatever can be treated without vet emergency help. K and Paul will send small amount dollars if and when they are able to for a daily wage. N Smit has made some wet food purchases possible with a R500 donation, thank you. 🙏

Every contribution, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.

🐾 URGENTLY LOOKING FOR A CAT LOVER TO JOIN THE CAT HOUSE! 🐾

The Cat House NPC in Dominionville, North West, urgently needs a reliable, hardworking person to help care for our 140+ rescued cats.

❤️ Do you love cats and want to make a difference in their lives?

* Keeping the cats’ environment clean and safe

This is hands-on work with many cats. It requires patience, kindness, physical stamina, reliability and a genuine love for animals.

We need someone who understands that rescue work is not always easy, but that these cats depend on us every single day.

📍 Location: Dominionville, North West Province, near Klerksdorp.

⏰ Urgent vacancy — we need someone as soon as possible.

If you are interested, or know someone who would be suitable, please send me a private message.

A Quiet Plea from The Cat House 🐾

I don’t often write posts like this, but tonight I am feeling a little forgotten out here.

The cats are okay for food at the moment, thanks to the kindness of a few loyal supporters, especially Sue, who continues to stand by us when things get difficult. But behind the scenes, the daily expenses never stop.

We currently have more than 130 cats depending on us every day. Litter sand is running low and needs to be topped up soon. To help cope with the workload, I have also had to bring in some extra help, which means additional wages that need to be paid.

Anyone who has visited or followed The Cat House knows that caring for this many cats is a full-time commitment. Feeding, cleaning, laundry, medicating, maintaining water stations, and keeping everyone safe takes hours of work every single day.

Right now, donations have become very quiet, and our funds for wages are running low.

If you would like to help, any contribution—no matter how small—will make a difference towards:
🐾 Litter sand
🐾 Wages for our helpers
🐾 Daily care and shelter expenses

Sometimes a shelter doesn’t need a miracle; it just needs enough support to get through another week.

Thank you to everyone who continues to care about our cats and follows their journey. Your kindness keeps this sanctuary going, even during the quieter times. ❤️

Tonight, I am sitting here feeling overwhelmed with gratitude, humbled almost to the point of tears.

Over the past few days, so many people have stepped in to help The Cat House when we needed it most.

A very special thank you to Sue, who once again came to our rescue and covered the costs of the damage caused by the recent power surges. She also paid for the installation of new floodlights and surge protection for our DB board, an expense of more than R4,000. There are simply no words that can fully express what this means to us.

Thank you to Darryn Baynes from PlanB Electrical, who came out today and did the installation. Your willingness to help and your professional service are deeply appreciated.

Thank you to Bennita, who paid R1,500 towards the bond. Support like this helps keep a roof over our heads and the shelter operating during difficult times.

To the supporters who donated smaller amounts, please know that every rand mattered. Your contributions helped me fill up water supplies and purchase much-needed tins of food for the cats. These donations may seem small to some, but together they make an enormous difference.

A special thank you as well to Mr Nysschen, who donated 30kg of Heritage View cat food. This is something he has faithfully done every month for as long as I can remember. That kind of consistent kindness helps keep our cats fed and gives us one less thing to worry about.

Running a shelter with more than 140 cats can often feel overwhelming. There are days when the challenges seem bigger than the resources available. Then people like you step forward and remind me that we are not alone.

Tonight, I feel incredibly blessed. Every donation, every bag of food, every tin, every litre of water, every act of kindness is a reminder that there are good people who care deeply about these cats and about our little sanctuary.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your generosity, compassion, and continued support mean more than I could ever adequately express.

With sincere gratitude,

Lynette & fur family of The Cat House ❤️🐾

😡‼️Last night’s cable theft has left more damage behind than just a power outage.‼️

Power was restored for a short while about two hours ago, but the effects of the power surge are only now becoming clear. So far we have lost our microwave, four light globes, two floodlights, and three water fountains along with their wall chargers. The fridge light is flickering, although the motor is still running, so we are hoping the fridge itself has survived.

We are still assessing the full extent of the damage.

This is the hidden cost of crime that many people never see. Beyond the inconvenience of being without electricity, shelters, small organisations and ordinary households are often left to replace equipment they can barely afford.

We thought it was important to share this simply for awareness. Cable theft affects far more than the power supply itself.

The price of crime is paid by everyone.

As another month draws to a close, I find myself once again reaching out on behalf of the 130+ cats who call The Cat House home. ❤️

Month-end is always our most difficult time financially. We still need help towards:

🐾 Services and utility accounts
🐾 Ongoing vet expenses and medication
🐾 Staff wages for the month
🐾 Food and litter to keep everyone comfortable and cared for

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue providing shelter, food, medical care, and a safe place for cats who have nowhere else to go.

The cats don’t understand month-end budgets, unpaid bills, or rising costs. They simply trust that their next meal will arrive and that someone will be there to care for them. Thanks to our supporters, that trust has never been broken.

If you are able to assist, even with a small contribution, it would mean the world to us and to the many little lives depending on this sanctuary every day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand beside us through the good months and the difficult ones. We truly could not do this without you. ❤️

With gratitude,

Lynette and The Cat House Children 🐱

🐾 Lazy Day at The Cat House 🐾

Some of the children have clearly decided that today is for napping, sunbathing, stretching, and absolutely no hard work at all. 😸

The weather is pleasant, not too hot, with rain expected sometime later today. While a few of our residents are enjoying a well-deserved lazy day, the routine at the sanctuary continues as always — feeding, cleaning, laundry, medication rounds, and lots of love.

Some munching away on the 15kg IAMS damaged bag donated by Cube Route, Marthie, thank YOU. 🤩

We hope all our wonderful supporters have a peaceful weekend ahead. Thank you for walking this journey with us and helping us care for so many precious lives. Every kind thought, donation, share, and message of support means more than words can say.

From all the sleepy faces at The Cat House, have a wonderful weekend! ❤️🐾

Now if only someone could explain to the cats that there is work to be done around here… 😹💕
