🐾 OUTREACH – 19 & 26 AUGUST 2026 🐾
Sometimes you don’t go looking for the next place that needs help… somehow, it finds you. ❤️
On 19 August, Isabel made the decision to visit Extension 19 in Olievenhoutbosch for the very first time.
What she found was heartbreaking — poverty, filth, and a complete lack of knowledge about basic animal health and care.
Her words to me were:
“I don't know why I thought to come here today… this is bad, Annette. You will die if you see this place. We will start afresh, like we did in Extension 27.”
And that is exactly what we intend to do. 💔➡️❤️
When we first started in Extension 27 & others the situation was overwhelming. Ten months later, it has become what we proudly call our flagship outreach area. But the work never truly ends. There are still daily reminders, education, reprimands when necessary, and constant help and support.
Now, Extension 19 needs that same chance.
We need kennels, blankets, pallets, dog beds, bowls and food. The list is long. We know the public cannot help everyone — there are so many animal welfare organisations and communities desperately needing support. But we started this journey, and we simply cannot turn away now. We have to continue.
❤️🐾 STERILISATION – A STEP TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE
On this journey, we collected three very special dogs for sterilisation:
🐶 Ringo – a survivor of a shack fire, with the visible scars of what he has endured.
🐶 Ruby – a little feisty lady with plenty of spirit!
🐶 Dolly – a beautiful teddy-bear-type girl who knows only the comfort of sleeping inside and sharing a bed with her owner.
And honestly… that is my wish for every township doggie — to know warmth, safety, kindness and the comfort of being loved. ❤️

🐾 26 AUGUST – ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER COMMUNITY, ANOTHER CALL FOR HELP
Today, we distributed 50 pre-packed dog food bags, together with blankets, beds, bowls and whatever supplies we had available.
Every single owner was grateful.
And at the end of the day, we left tired but satisfied, knowing that, even if only for a little while, we had made a difference to an animal and a family who needed help. ❤️
After dropping dogs off for sterilisation at the Society for the Animals in Distress and completing our outreach, our day was far from over.
We headed to Erasmia, Centurion, to investigate a possible rescue.
Initially, there were three dogs. One was believed by the community to be heavily pregnant. Sadly, she has not been seen for a few days, and we can only hope that she has perhaps found somewhere safe to give birth.
We did, however, find the other two youngsters on Willem Erasmus Street, opposite Erasmia SPAR, if anyone knows a social media portal for Erasmia, please share this with us.
Catching them is going to be an enormous challenge. 😔 Apparently, others have been trying to catch them for months without success.
So now… it is time to bring in the big guns! 💪🐕
A huge thank you to Lee from The Dogs Trust for offering us a dog trap, and to Celia from Pretoria Dog Rescue NPC for offering another.
We will be returning to try again.
For now, we have left them with food and water, and we are hoping and praying for a better rescue day soon. 🙏❤️ I will update everyone on the outcome.

You may sometimes wonder whether your contribution really makes a difference.
It does.
It is the reason we can enter places where making a difference once seemed impossible.
It is the reason Ringo, Ruby and Dolly can have a better future.
It is the reason 50 families went home today with food for their dogs.
And hopefully, it will be the reason two frightened youngsters in Erasmia will soon know safety. 🐾❤️
We cannot save them all. But together, we can make sure that we save more.
