🚨 AAD 2026: COMMUNITY TRAFFIC & ROAD SAFETY UPDATE

The Africa Aerospace and Defence - AAD 2026 takes place at AFB Waterkloof 16–20 September 2026, and we’re expecting increased traffic in and around the area.

We’re sharing this information early so that our residents, commuters, businesses and visitors can plan ahead and get where they need to be safely. 💙

🚗 TRADE DAYS: 16–18 SEPTEMBER
07:00–20:00
➡️ Roads will remain open, but motorists should expect intermittent delays and slow-moving traffic.
Leave a little earlier, allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes where possible.

🚧 PUBLIC DAYS: 19–20 SEPTEMBER
04:00–20:00
Several road closures will be in place to private vehicles:
• Solomon Mahlangu Drive (M10) between R21 and Kruger Ave – buses/park-and-ride only
• Kruger Ave & Solomon Mahlangu Dr - closed
• Pierre van Ryneveld & Solomon Mahlangu Dr – closed
• R21 South & Solomon Mahlangu Dr - closed
• Union Ave / Solomon Mahlangu junction - closed
✅ RECOMMENDED ROUTES
Botha Avenue / Rigel Avenue off-ramps (N1)→ Gates 5, 6 & 7
🔁 ALERNATIVE:
Nellmapuis Drive (R21) → Gates 5, 6 & 7

🚕 USING E-HAILING?
Drop-off points are available at Veldpou Street (Dastek) and the Gates 5, 6 & 7 area on Van Ryneveld.

🚌 GAUTRAIN BUS SHUTTLE
Centurion Station → Gate 1 (Veldpou & Solomon Mahlangu) & return

🅿️ PARK & RIDE
Park-and-Ride facilities are available at:
• SAAF 68 Squadron – Snake Valley Road
• Zwartkops Memorial – Snake Valley Road M24, between R101 & N14
• Gautrain Station – West Ave, Centurion
• Armscor – Nossob Drive, Erasmusrand

⚠️ ANOTHER EVENT TO NOTE:
The Exxaro Road Race takes place on 19 September from 06:00–12:00 around the SuperSport Park area. This may add to congestion on Public Day 1, so please factor this into your travel plans.

We are back with our 2nd annual Wheelbarrow Grand Prix Festival in Monument Park Extension (at the Park in Visarend st).

Last year was a huge success (1400 visitors 144 participants) and we are planning our second Festival for the 23rd of September with a night market, an awesome Wheelbarrow race (time to get some revenge in over a 2 lap-challenge !), Live Music, Carnival Games, New entertainment (Bring on your inner Sumo Wrestler !) and an evening of pure FUN for the whole Family !

Event will run from 6pm to 9.30pm.
