We have over 500 animals in our care at any given time, including Donkeys, Pigs, Chickens, Rabbits, Geese, Goats, Dogs & Cats. Woodrock Animal Rescue was founded in 1992 by Nicholas and Estelle (Stella) Meldau, whose focus, passion and drive afforded their animal rescue vision to become a reality. The rescue centre originated in the suburban area of Woodmead and Khyber Rock, hence the name Woodroc

k. Today Woodrock Animal Rescue is one of the oldest independent domestic animal rescue centres in South Africa. We are a registered non-profit, pro-life, rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing shelter, based on 8.5 hectares in the beautiful Hennops River Valley, 25 minutes from Fourways Johannesburg on the R511 Hartbeespoort Road. We offer support to unfortunate animals that are homeless, abused, neglected, stray, injured, ill, geriatric, or unwanted—those who would otherwise face miserable lives and untimely deaths. Don’t these two beautiful souls deserve to be in a home with people who can dote on them?

Robbie, a Labrador mix who is nearing her second birthday, was returned to our shelters by a family who couldn’t handle his energetic personality. Our 2-year-old tuxedo, Izzy, was left behind when her owner moved houses.

To us, they carry no flaws. Robbie simply wants someone who can take him on walks and enjoy a game of tug with. Izzy needs a family who she can trust to never leave her.
