The Fight 4 Sight project was launched in the early 2000’s and since the inception of the project, have changed the lives of many patients by giving them the gift of sight. Recently, the Strive 4 Sight initiative have joined the cause, with the objective to provide a holistic and affordable eyecare service to patients who cannot afford private medical rates. Treatment of ophthalmic conditions and
surgeries to such patients are offered at reduced costs or in some instances free of charge, subject to the patient meeting certain criteria* and terms and conditions of the entity. This initiative is managed by Ophthalmologists, Registered Ophthalmic Nurses, Optometrists and Registered Assistants who supports the cause. At the outset of the initiative, surgeries were performed during the week of “World Sight Day” which is commemorated worldwide on the second Thursday of October, however as we gain more support, patients can be assisted throughout the year. Strive 4 Sight aims to:
- Prevent avoidable blindness;
- Aid patients, young and old, with a treatable eye condition;
- Increase awareness for the need for primary eyecare in South Africa;
- Initiate child eyecare programmes;
- Make a difference by giving the gift of sight. Should you be interested in supporting this initiative, please send an email to [email protected]. A form will be sent that must be completed by the donor, for a 18A certificate to be issued. Should you wish to put forward the name of the specific patient or review the criteria* which is used to determine if a patient qualifies for ophthalmic treatment provided as part of the Strive 4 Sight initiative, please contact Carla on (012) 644 5000. Thank you for your consideration to assist us in our endeavour to give the gift of sight to those who need it.
