MEET the Team ๐Ÿ’œ

JESSICA
ADVOCATE & SURVIVOR SUPPORTER

I am a survivor of childhood sexual assault and successfully, but through much, many tears years of relentless fighting, had the perpetrator convicted and sentenced to prison.

The journey of healing is ongoing. To be angry, with all the mental hurt and everything else that comes with standing up publicly against a crime like this often feels like an impossible thing to do.

I want to give purpose to that. I have been through, and I do this by helping other survivors, especially of sexual assault, address the trauma and seek justice the right way.

When I am not working in my IT business, I offer support to victims of crime and try to meet them at the point of their need.

I want to be a beacon of hope to people who have lost faith, lost purpose, that I want them, cannot be helped. I want to give hope and let people who carry pain alone because they think that nobody will believe them.

"My goal is to empower survivors to reclaim their power, take accountability for their growth, and build lives of purpose, safety, and freedom."

Thank you, Jessica, for walking alongside survivors, offering strength, guidance, and unwavering compassion.
WE SEE YOU. WE THANK YOU. WE STAND WITH YOU.

E-hailing service Safely Tips:

Before getting into an e-hailing vehicle, take a few seconds to prioritise your safety.

Always verify that the vehicleโ€™s number plate, make, model, and colour match whatโ€™s shown in your app.

Confirm the driverโ€™s identity by checking their name and photo, and ask who they are there for before revealing your name.

Double-check that your trip details and destination are correct, and trust your instincts... if anything feels off, cancel the ride.

Share your trip with someone you trust so they can track your journey in real time.

When you get in, sit in the back seat for more space and easier exit, and make sure the doors open from the inside.

Stay alert when approaching and entering the vehicle, and avoid distractions.

Never accept rides outside of the app, as this removes important safety tracking features.

Lastly, know where to find the emergency or SOS button in your app in case you need it.

Your safety is always worth the extra few seconds ๐Ÿ’œ

For Phakama ๐Ÿค

There are some souls
who enter the world gently, never demanding to be seen, and yet, somehow, they become unforgettable.

Phakama, you were one of those souls.
You lived in the quiet spaces, in shared mornings, in small kindnesses, in the rhythm of ordinary days that became extraordinary simply because you were there.

You were presence.
You were warmth.
You were a human being
with dreams that stretched beyond the horizon, with laughter that belonged here,
with a future that was yours by right.

And those who knew you did not just see you- they felt you. They felt your care in the way you moved through the world, in the way you gave of yourself without asking for anything in return, in the way your existence made life softer for others.

There is no language strong enough for a loss like this.
No words that can untangle the cruelty of what was taken, no explanation that can make sense of a life interrupted by violence
that should never have found you.

What remains now
is not the darkness of your ending, but the light of your being.
Because darkness does not get the final word.
Love does.
Love remains in the spaces you filled.
Love remains in the memories carried carefully, like something fragile and holy.
Love remains in the refusal to let your name
become just another silence.

You were here.
You mattered.
You are remembered.
And in remembering you, those who loved you are saying -
your life was not small.
Your life was not invisible.
Your life was, and is,
woven into the hearts of those who will carry you forward for as long as they breathe. You are not defined by what was done to you, but by the humanity you carried, the dignity you lived with, and the love you leave behind.

Phakama, you will always be spoken of with tenderness, with honour, and with the kind of love that does not end.

- Dedicated to Phakama Mbinda with love that remains, always.

This poem is shared in your memory, and in honour of the life you lived, on behalf of Marlet du Toit, who carries you in her heart, with deep gratitude, sorrow, and love that time cannot erase.

Dear Members

As Christmas approaches we would like to put together food parcels for our sisters in need, to have a Christmas Day meal. Unfortunately this is a very difficult time of year for a lot of us and if we together can provide some comfort and support during this time that would be awesome.
You will remember that we started this last year and was able to make up 9 food parcels and prepare a Christmas lunch at a home for abused girls.

We would like to carry this tradition on, us together with you can make this happen.
I know that times are hard for everyone but if you can assist with a food parcel, a food voucher or cash toward, we humbly request that you consider donating.

No amount is too small. All donations received will be issued an 18A certificate.

If you can assist please WhatsApp me 0814012663 or inbox.

Sisters requesting assistance should also please WhatsApp me 0814012663.

Each situation will be vetted to ensure fairness.

We would also like, if funds allow provide a prepared meal for a shelter or two as some of our sisters are spending this holiday season at a shelter due to leaving their abusers. Let's show them some love during this heart-breaking time๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’—

Help us to help her. Pay it forward๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ–ค
