Every day, women and children reach out for help escaping dangerous situations. When a woman finds the courage to leave, she needs more than support — she needs a safe way out.

At SA Women Fight Back, we are working towards raising R120,000 for a bakkie that will help us transport women, children, their belongings and essential supplies when they need us most.

But we cannot do this alone. We still need donations, and we need our community to stand with us.

💜🌳THE JACARANDA CAMPAIGN | SA WOMEN FIGHT BACK 💜🌳

Every year, South Africa’s jacarandas burst into purple, transforming our streets into something beautiful. Their blossoms remind us of the beauty that surrounds us, the strength of nature, and the hope that returns with every new season.

But beneath this beautiful purple canopy, there is a fight that cannot be ignored.

A fight for the safety of our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. A fight for the right of every woman and girl to live without fear. A fight against gender-based violence and femicide.

💜 We wear purple. We stand together. We refuse to be silent.

The jacarandas may bloom for a season, but our commitment to ending GBV must never fade.

Through our Jacaranda Campaign, SA Women Fight Back wants to turn these beautiful purple blossoms into a symbol of unity, remembrance, awareness and action.

💜 This is just the beginning.

From now until the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we will be running our Jacaranda Campaign to raise awareness, encourage solidarity and unite our voices against GBV and femicide.

Today, we stand beneath the jacarandas to make a statement. In the weeks ahead, we want YOU to join us.

We will be inviting our members, supporters and communities across South Africa to share their own jacaranda photographs — standing beneath the purple trees, wearing purple, and standing in solidarity with every woman affected by GBV.

SA WOMEN FIGHT BACK CELEBRATES JUDGE NAVANETHEM “NAVI” PILLAY!

We are delighted to celebrate the wonderful news of Judge Navi Pillay being awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

A proud South African, Judge Pillay has dedicated her life to justice, human rights and fighting against discrimination. Her remarkable work has helped give a voice to the vulnerable and strengthened the fight for equality around the world.

This historic achievement makes her the first South African woman and the fifth South African to receive this prestigious international honour.

Her journey is an inspiration to women everywhere and a powerful reminder of what courage, determination and a commitment to justice can achieve.

22-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FOUND DEAD NEAR UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO

Another young woman has lost her life, and once again, there are more questions than answers.

A 22-year-old woman was found dead and partially clothed near the University of Limpopo campus fence in Mankweng on Sunday morning.

She was discovered along Sovenga Street at around 6am, with her head inside a trench beside the campus fence. Police officers who were on patrol were alerted to the discovery and rushed to the scene.

According to police, a preliminary inspection found no visible external injuries. Her belongings, including an identity document and NSFAS card, were found next to her. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police have said preliminary information indicates that she may have fallen into the trench, but investigators have not yet established the circumstances surrounding her death.

And that is exactly why questions must be asked.

How did she come to be there?
What happened before she died?
Why was she partially clothed?
What circumstances led to her being at the campus fence in the early hours of the morning?

Her identity has not yet been released as her family is still being informed.

This is not about jumping to conclusions.
It is about demanding a thorough investigation and ensuring that every unanswered question is properly examined.

A young woman's life has ended.

WE DEMAND ACTION.

Until the full circumstances surrounding her death are known, we will continue to ask questions.
