The Sheep Raffle that we have been running on behalf of the CALLIE EVENS LODGE was drawn today.

We are delighted to announce that **ABRI BOTHA** bought the WINNING TICKET.

We would like to thank everyone for the fantastic support that we received for this Fund Raising effort.

A very sincere thank you to the family who donated the sheep.

In December 2024 with the help on a generous donation of paint from SHEPSTONE HARDWARE in Queenstown we were able to start giving the front of the Main Callie Evens Lodge a face lift. The improvement made a huge difference to our moral.
Since then with continued support from Shepstone Hardware and a HUGE amount of help from BK ADMIN and help from a Backabuddy campaign we are boasting a totally new look.

I have made mention of the water scheme which was planned and completed by FIX IT PLUMBERS and a solar scheme which was installed by GRIDVOLT. These 2 projects have made an enormous difference to the running of the Callie Evens Lodge over the last 18 months.

There have been numerous times when Cathcart has been plunged into darkness and our lights have stayed ON, and days when the cries from town residents have reminded us that without stored water we to, would have been at the mercy of poor infrastructure.

Thank you to our community and farmers and local organizations like RT and businesses in Cathcart that have also helped to finance these great improvements.

We have been incredibly blessed with all the financial help we have received, and under the supervision of Piers Miles the main building has had all the facia boards replaced and a tired looking building that had not had a splash of paint for at least 15 years is now looking amazing again.

We have increased our capacity from 32 to 44 and at present have 2 empty cottages and one empty bedsitter and a frail care that is full.

We continue to strive to create an environment which is safe and as homely as possible. Our staff enjoy what they do and continually endevour to meet the needs of the residents in the best possible way.

Thank you to management and staff and committee for all the hard work that has helped us get to this point. May we continue to provide a great service to our community for many years to come.

Today the 21st of April 2026 heralds Aunty Aileen Berrington's official 100th Birthday 🎂 Congratulations Aunty Aileen on a fantastic innings. You continue to inspire us and we wish you a very blessed day today while you continue to celebrate this incredible milestone with your family and friends. It is a joy for all of us at the Callie Evens Lodge to be able to have you as one of our residents. We continue to strive to provide a safe and comfortable caring environment for you and all our other residents. Residents and Staff and friends, all wish you a wonderful day filled with wonderful memories of a life well lived.

A very special birthday for a remarkable lady. Happy 100th Birthday Aunty Aileen.

Today was a very special day. We celebrated Aileen Bertington's 100th Birthday at a special tea party at the Callie Evens Lodge. This incredible lady was supported by her 3 daughters and other special family memberstoday. Aunty Aileen turns 100 years old on Tuesday the 21st April. This huge event is going to be celebrated over a number of days. 21-04-1926 also just happens to be the day on which Queen Elizabeth was born.
