This is what growth looks like. 🌱

A strong team is built with intention, trust and the courage to let people evolve into their purpose. From joining us as a mentee at 16 to now leading and managing our social platforms, Anelisiwe Mthwaphi is a true reflection of what happens when potential is nurtured.

We don’t just create art, we build people.
We don’t just tell stories, we grow voices.

Behind every post is purpose. Behind our platform is leadership.

Meet “Jackson” Ndenza abamaziyo bathi nguTHELA - one of the young voices shaping the future of storytelling.

At just 14, this Grade 8 learner from Isilimela High School carries an energy you can’t ignore. Playful, a little naughty but deeply passionate. Jackson brings life into every space he enters. Behind the laughter is a young creative who is curious, determined and hungry to learn the art of film.

As one of our film mentees at Artivism Productions 24, he is discovering how to turn everyday moments into powerful stories. We don’t believe in perfect beginnings but we believe in raw potential, growth and giving young people the tools to tell their stories, their way.

This is more than mentorship.
This is building storytellers.
This is building leaders.
This is building Jackson.

Meet Oyintando Ndungane also known as KZn, a 15-year-old storyteller in the making already stepping confidently into the world of film through Artivism Productions 24. What you’re seeing here is more than just a poster but it’s a glimpse into a journey that has already begun. Oyintando is not waiting for the future to arrive but he is actively building it. Currently, he is immersed in directing his own short film, taking on the responsibility of shaping narratives, guiding scenes and bringing ideas to life through the lens. From setting up shots to making creative decisions behind the camera, he is learning the discipline, patience and vision that filmmaking demands.

His work reflects a young creative who understands that storytelling is power - the power to represent, to question and to inspire. In a space where many are still discovering their voices, Oyintando is already using his to create. This is what Artivism Productions 24 stands for: nurturing raw talent, creating platforms for expression and building a generation that tells its own stories with intention and pride. He is not just learning film. He is living it. He is directing it. He is becoming it.

Happy Belated 21st Birthday to our dedicated Secretary and Director, Shamane Ndlovu

While we may have missed the exact moment to celebrate you on the 18th of April, we would like to take this time to honour and acknowledge not only your milestone of turning 20 but the remarkable role you continue to play within our organisation. This is a significant chapter in your life - a moment that symbolizes growth, maturity, responsibility and the unfolding of even greater purpose.

As our Secretary and one of our Directors, you carry responsibilities that require discipline, consistency and a deep sense of commitment. You have continuously demonstrated these qualities with grace and excellence. Your ability to manage, organise, and lead from both an administrative and strategic level has been instrumental in strengthening our structure and ensuring that our vision remains clear and progressive. You are not only a pillar within the organisation but also a voice of reliability and a presence of calm leadership.

Your contribution goes beyond titles. It is seen in the time you dedicate, the energy you invest, and the integrity you uphold in your work. In spaces where many would fold under pressure, you have remained steady, focused, and solution-driven. That level of commitment speaks volumes about your character and the future you are building for yourself.

Turning 20 is more than just a celebration of age but it is the opening of doors to greater opportunities, deeper self-discovery, and expanded influence. It is the beginning of a phase where your vision can grow even bigger, your leadership can reach further, and your impact can touch more lives. We have no doubt that you will continue to rise, not only within this organisation but in every space you step into.

On behalf of the entire team, we want to express our sincere appreciation for who you are and all that you do. We celebrate your journey, your strength, and your unwavering commitment to excellence. May this new year of your life be filled with growth, success, fulfilment, and moments that remind you of just how far you have come and how far you are still going.

Happy 20th Birthday once again, Shamane. Even though it is belated, the appreciation and respect we have for you are always on time.

Artivism Productions 24 would like to first inform our team, partners and extended community of an important organisational update during this period of transition. As many of you are aware, our Managing Director has recently relocated to Mpumalanga marking a strategic shift in how we continue to grow and operate as an organisation. While leadership will continue virtually, it is important for us to remain strong, present and consistent on the ground.

With that in mind, we are proud to introduce Axolile Vazi as our on-the-ground representative in Cape Town. Many of you already know Axolile as a poet, facilitator and theatre actor as well as a committed member of Artivism Productions 24 in Port Elizabeth. His work, discipline and passion have already contributed meaningfully to the organisation making him a natural fit for this responsibility.

During this period, Axolile will serve as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day activities. He will be the person you engage with directly across programmes, meetings and collaborations ensuring that the organisation continues to function effectively and uphold its standards in all aspects.

In his role as Programs & Operations Coordinator, he will oversee the coordination and implementation of initiatives, support facilitation processes, manage communication and ensure that all Artivism Productions 24 work is delivered with impact and consistency. His presence on the ground allows us to maintain momentum and continue serving our communities without disruption.

We have made the decision to bring him to Cape Town to ensure that we continue to serve strongly during this shift. He will be with us until the end of June, focusing on ensuring that all Artivism Productions 24 initiatives are successfully rendered.

We encourage the entire team to support him as he steps into this role and continues to carry the vision of Artivism Productions 24 forward.

Artivism Productions 24 would like to extend its heartfelt wishes for a powerful and fulfilling journey to our Managing Director following his recent move to Mpumalanga. This moment marks not just a geographical transition but an important chapter in the continued growth and evolution of both his personal path and the organisation he has helped shape from the ground up.

Those who know Zolani will understand that his leadership has never been distant or symbolic but it has been deeply present, hands-on and rooted in genuine commitment. He has been on the ground from the very beginning, actively building Artivism Productions 24 with intention, passion and resilience. From attending every program to engaging in every meeting, from mentoring young creatives to ensuring that each initiative carries meaning and impact his contribution has been both visible and deeply felt. He has not only led the organisation but lived it, embodying its values in action.

As he relocates to Mpumalanga, his role will naturally evolve. While he may no longer be physically present in every space, he will continue to serve the organisation virtually offering strategic direction, guidance and leadership from a distance. This is not a withdrawal but rather a transformation in how leadership is expressed, one that reflects trust in the team on the ground and a broader vision for sustainability and expansion.

This move represents a strategic shift for Artivism Productions 24, one that acknowledges that growth is not always linear or comfortable. Sometimes growth requires us to step into new spaces, to rethink how we operate and to embrace change even when it feels unfamiliar. It is in these moments that organisations mature and leaders evolve.

We honour the work that has been done, the foundation that has been built and the countless lives that have been touched through his dedication. At the same time, we look forward with optimism and confidence knowing that this transition opens up new possibilities for both Zolani and the organisation as a whole.

All the best on this new journey Isizukulwana SikaMzimeli may it be filled with purpose, expansion and continued impact.

Skills Transfer Session - Inter-Organisational Capacity Building

Facilitators and practitioners from Artivism Productions 24 NPC, Lunchbox Theatre Organisation, Light of Life Theatre Organisation and Naledi Foundation convened at Guga S’thebe Arts and Culture Centre in Langa for a dedicated skills transfer and methodology alignment session. The five-day program created space for peer learning and practical exchange between organisations working in arts education and youth development. Mornings were structured around facilitator training blocks that covered core and advanced practice: revisiting foundational theatre and storytelling methodologies, introducing new tools for managing large learner groups and workshopping strategies for lesson planning, pacing and assessment within school timetables.

Practitioners from each organisation led segments in their areas of expertise, allowing for direct skills transfer and cross-pollination of approaches. Emphasis was placed on adapting creative processes to school-based contexts, ensuring safeguarding standards and maintaining quality of delivery at scale. The session strengthened inter-organisational relationships and established a consistent standard of practice across all partners delivering the Langa Champions Afterschool Program.

Building Collaboration Through Creative Exchange

Last week marked another step forward in our Langa Champions mission of collaboration amongst one another. In partnership with the Naledi Foundation - KwaLanga , we had the privilege of welcoming and hosting LUNCHBOX THEATRE (Plettenberg Bay) and Light of life theatre organisation (Kraaifontein) for a series of impactful engagements.

Together, we ran peer-to-peer skills transfer sessions and creative workshops at Isilimela Comprehensive School and Guga S’thebe. Learners were immersed in storytelling, performance and creative expression while also gaining practical tools to share knowledge and uplift each other. The sessions created space for dialogue, confidence building and real skills exchange between learners, visiting artists and local facilitators.

This collaboration reflects what Langa Champions stands for: connecting people, organizations and ideas so that we grow stronger together. By bringing theatre groups from Plettenberg Bay and Kraaifontein into Langa’s schools and community spaces, we broaden the circle of learning and creativity. It’s a reminder that collaboration doesn’t stop at neighborhood borders.

We’re grateful to every learner who showed up with curiosity, to our partners who travelled to share their energy and expertise, and to the educators who opened their doors. This is collaboration in action and we’re just getting started...

Yesterday we launched the Langa Champions Programme at Guga S’thebe with Artivism Productions 24. Fezekisa led a theatre masterclass for 35 kids built around small, repeatable sketches: pairs turning errands and mis-communications into one-minute plays, swapping wants and obstacles, rehearsing subtext without naming it. He coached physical choices enter already moving, land the first line on a fixed foot, keep the adjustment in the breath and the room became several audiences at once, trading timing and rescue. Langa Champions starts this way: Fezekisa teaching attention as technique, and 35 participants making sketches that practice listening before anything else.
