KINDERS HET DIE REG TOT MAATSKAPLIKE DIENSTE

Tydens Kinderbeskermingsweek herinner ons gemeenskappe daaraan dat elke kind die reg het op beskerming, ondersteuning en toegang tot maatskaplike dienste wat hul welstand bevorder.

Cheslyn* se storie is 'n voorbeeld van hoe belangrik hierdie reg is. Cheslyn is deur sy ouma grootgemaak en het ongelukkig in sy tienerjare onder die invloed van verkeerde vriende begin dagga gebruik. Toe hy die geleentheid kry om hulp te ontvang, het hy dit met albei hande aangegryp en sy begeerte uitgespreek om sy lewe te verander.

Met ondersteuning van sy pleegsorgtoesigwerker is hy hierdie week by Toevlug Rehabilitasiesentrum opgeneem vir behandeling. Hierdie stap gee hom die geleentheid om nuwe vaardighede aan te leer, gesonde keuses te maak en aan 'n beter toekoms te bou.

Kinderbeskerming gaan nie net daaroor om kinders teen skade te beskerm nie – dit gaan ook daaroor om hulle toegang te gee tot die hulp en dienste wat hulle nodig het om hul volle potensiaal te bereik.

Ons wens Cheslyn alle sterkte toe op hierdie belangrike reis en vertrou dat hy die program suksesvol sal voltooi.

As Child Protection Week rolled on, the Badisa Tygerberg team kept the energy high and the message loud and clear!

Badisa Tygerberg and SAPS Ravensmead joined hands in Uitsig to promote children's rights and child protection during Child Protection Week.

Our team engaged with community members, distributed resource brochures, and shared information on services available to children and families. Together, we can create safer communities where every child is protected, valued, and allowed to thrive.

If a child:
• Is abused or neglected
• Lives in unsafe or harmful conditions
• Is abandoned, unsupported, or at risk

You don’t need proof — reasonable suspicion is enough.

Anyone can make a report.
It’s always better to act.
