Picture this:
A girl is sitting in class and she gets her periods.
Unprepared, she does not have pads with her,
her school does not keep free pads and
her peers does not have pads with them.
Sheβs not able to easily call someone from home to bring some pads for her, SO
She makes the decision no girl should have to make:
She goes home, because there, she can menstruate shamelessly, even without pads, using other items at her disposal (toilet paper, socks, other fabric items).
The impact? A girlβs dignity compromised and opportunities missed out at school.
Where will she feel it most? One day when she sits in an exam room reading a question relating to content she was not in class for, because she had to go home that day.
Thus, the impact is far greater than just a day missed at school π
