The main aim of WAND is to raise the visibility of women and girls with disabilities. The challenges and achievements of women and girls with disabilities continue to remain invisible and in some communities disabled women are referred to as “erased” women. We want to change that by making what we do visible, via showcasing our success, challenges, stories and determination. We want to show that w

e embrace our unique beauty and that our self acceptance has enabled us to love ourselves. This makes us bold, gives us confidence and empowers us to give back to others, so that they too can come to the realization that as a person, they do not need to fit a specific mould; that they are uniquely beautiful because of who they are and their unique qualities.
