🇿🇦🔥🥘 WHAT A HERITAGE DAY CELEBRATION AT KRAAIFONTEIN BOWLING CLUB! 🥘🔥🇿🇦

What an absolutely fantastic day we had yesterday as we came together in the true spirit of Heritage Day — celebrating our traditions, our South African heritage, good food, great bowls, friendship and the wonderful family spirit of Kraaifontein Bowling Club! ❤️🇿🇦

And what better way to celebrate Heritage Day than with a proper Potjiekos Competition! 🔥🥘

A huge THANK YOU to all the teams who entered, brought along their secret ingredients and cooked up a storm. The wonderful smells around the club certainly had everyone’s taste buds working overtime!

🏆 POTJIEKOS RESULTS
🥇 1st Place: Marcelle Kellerman & Team
🥈 2nd Place: Natacha Van Wyk & Team
🥉 3rd Place: Gideon van Zyl & Jannie Louw

Congratulations to our winners and a massive thank you to every team who participated. You helped make our Heritage Day celebration something truly special!

And then… it was time for the MAIN EVENT! 🎳🔥

After a whole week of friendly banter, challenges and plenty of build-up, Jurie Van Wyk and George Groenewald finally took to the green for their much-anticipated Singles Showdown!

These two had been at each other all week — all in fantastic spirit, good fun and true sportsmanship — and by the time game day arrived, the excitement was real! 😂🔥

They even had their own personalised walk-out songs written for the occasion! 🎶😎 You would have thought we were preparing for a heavyweight title fight rather than a game of bowls!

But once the bowls started rolling, both players meant business!

The crowd was treated to some excellent bowling, great competition and wonderful entertainment. In the end, Jurie Van Wyk claimed the victory 24–11 over George Groenewald. 🏆👏

Congratulations, Jurie! And a huge WELL DONE to George as well. Thank you to both gentlemen for embracing the fun, building up the excitement and delivering a game played in the true spirit of friendship and sportsmanship. You certainly entertained us!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped organise the day, our potjie teams, judges, volunteers, bar staff, members, supporters and everyone who came along to celebrate with us.

🇿🇦 Heritage Day is about celebrating who we are, where we come from, our traditions and the things that bring us together — and yesterday certainly did just that. 🇿🇦

Good food, great bowls, lots of laughter, friendly rivalry and wonderful people all coming together made this a Heritage Day to remember!

This is the Kraaifontein Bowling Club family! ❤️🎳🇿🇦

🎉🌿 WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO KICK OFF THE 2026/2027 SEASON! 🌿🎉

What an absolutely fantastic afternoon we had at Kraaifontein Bowling Club on Saturday, 22 August 2026, as we officially opened our new bowling season! 🥳💚

The weather was cool and perfect for bowls, but it was the enormous turnout of our members that truly brought the afternoon to life! 🥰🍰🥪 We enjoyed delicious eats, plenty of laughter, great conversations and, of course, some fantastic bowls on the green!

🎯 Steve Woor had the honour of rolling the FIRST BOWL of the 2026/2027 season, officially getting us underway and kicking off what we hope will be an incredible year filled with friendship, fun, success and many memorable moments! 👏🎉

We were also delighted to welcome Jeff & Thea Petersen from Malmesbury Bowling Club, who joined us for the afternoon. It was wonderful having you with us and sharing in the spirit of friendship and bowls! 💚🤝

There was great bowls played, friendships renewed, plenty of laughter and smiles, and most importantly, that wonderful KBC family feeling that makes our club so special. 💕🎳

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to support the opening, contributed delicious treats, helped make the afternoon special and simply brought their wonderful energy to the green. 🙏❤️

Here’s to the 2026/2027 season! 🥂🎉
May it be filled with great bowls, new friendships, renewed friendships, unforgettable memories and plenty of reasons to celebrate! 🏆💚
