Our trip to Liguria also included a visit to a wonderful garden in the hills above La Spezia. Manuela and Paolo have amassed an amazing collection of dry garden plants. Salvias predominate with many varieties, both more common and very unusual, but also a myriad of cistus, phlomis, santolina and helichrysum (including helichrysum lambertianum)

One of the high lights on our tour was visiting Petra Majore, Maurizio Usai’s personal garden in the northeast of Sardegna. The garden has a dreamlike quality about it, was acquired in 2014 and developed intensively since 2019. Grazie mille Maurizio!
