Cats are masters at hiding pain. 🐱🩹
Learning to recognise their subtle pain signals is an essential skill for every cat guardian.

The Feline Grimace Scale (FGS) is a validated tool for assessing acute pain in cats by looking at five facial action units.
Each action unit is scored from 0–2, giving a total score out of 10.
A score of 4 or above is the recommended cut-off for contacting your veterinarian for further assessment.

Familiarise yourself with the Feline Grimace Scale so you can recognise when something may be wrong, because the earlier pain is noticed, the sooner your cat can get the care they need.

Introducing Stitch! 🎀

Stitch is the sweetest little girl. She has a congenital issue with her hind leg that causes it to stay straight, like a pencil. While she still plays like a normal kitty, her leg definitely gets in the way, and our vet has indicated that it may cause issues as she gets older.

Depending on our vet’s guidance, we may need to amputate the leg when she is a little older, allowing her to live a very happy life as a tripod cat! 🐾

Introducing Jeff, Judy and Julie!💕

Initially, we were approached by another rescue organisation about Jeff, whom we gladly took into our care. Just one day later, Judy and Julie were found and reunited with him!🥹

Introducing the Southern family: Peggy Sue and her five babies, Dolly, Dottie, Patsy, Buddy and Elvis. 🐥

Peggy Sue gave birth outside at a depot in Killarney Gardens. A kind gentleman spotted her, quickly gave her a box with a blanket, and made sure she had food. We were then alerted to Peggy Sue and her babies by his caring wife.

Peggy Sue arrived in our care very malnourished and with a heavy worm burden, but that hasn't stopped her from being an incredible mom to her five little ones. Since coming into our care, she's received the appropriate parasite treatment and has been started on a nutritious diet to help her regain condition while nursing her babies.🩵
All five of her kittens are healthy and thriving, thanks to Peggy Sue's devoted care. 🐾
