This year's Muizenberg Beach Run brought serious pace to the coastline. Huge congratulations to our top 3 men and women across both the 5km and 7km 👏

Every runner who showed up helped Uplift the Youth in Lavender Hill, Capricorn, Steenberg, Muizenberg and Retreat. These six just happened to get there first. 😉

💙 Building a Safer Future Through Water Safety Education 📚

As part of World Drowning Prevention Day, we were proud to partner with EcoActive to bring Blue Day to seven Cape Town primary schools, reaching nearly 900 learners through fun, interactive water safety education.

From drowning prevention workshops and creative poster competitions to inspiring real-life rescue stories, learners discovered that the knowledge they gain today could one day save a life.

For the past 12 years, EcoActive has been building a culture of water safety across Cape Town schools, reaching more than 20,000 children through education and free learn-to-swim programmes.

A sincere thank you to EcoActive for their ongoing commitment to drowning prevention, as well as Trellidor CPT Retail the participating schools, educators, volunteers and everyone who helped make Blue Day such a success.

Together, we are equipping the next generation with the knowledge, skills and confidence to stay safe around water.

Because drowning is preventable, and education remains one of our most powerful tools. 🛟💙

To every runner who laced up and showed up today, whether crossing that finish line at Surfers Corner or joining us from afar, thank you. Every entry, every step, every bit of energy you brought went straight back into keeping youth afloat in water and in life.

At EcoActive, Drowning Prevention is at our core, it's what keeps everything else afloat. This World Drowning Prevention Day 🌊, we're inviting YOU to help us turn the tide by taking action.

Yesterday, communities across EcoActive's footprint came together for water safety lessons, ahead of today's World Drowning Prevention Day.

- Lots and lots of Blue
- And even more creative posters made by the youth, the same youth who will carry the message of water safety back into their communities.

🌊 WORLD DROWNING PREVENTION DAY | 25 JULY 2026 💙
This year's World Health Organisation theme is the following: "Unite to Turn the Tide."
Every year, more than 300,000 lives are lost to drowning, making it one of the leading causes of preventable death worldwide, especially among children.
At EcoActive, we believe that anyone can drown, but no one should.
This World Drowning Prevention Day, we're inviting YOU to help us turn the tide by taking action.
💙 Friday, 24 July - EcoActive Blue Day
Wear something blue and donate R10 to support our drowning prevention programmes. Every conversation started, every blue shirt worn, and every donation helps raise awareness and save lives.
🏃‍♀️ Saturday, 1 August, Muizenberg Beach Run/Walk
Join us for a morning of fun, fitness, and purpose. Every race entry helps provide free swimming and water safety lessons to learners from six schools in the Capricorn and Lavender Hill communities.
Swimming is more than a sport.
💙 It is a life-saving skill.
💙 It is a right, not a privilege.
Together, we can help ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn this essential life skill.
