It's good to be back! 🌊
Three weeks into our 2026 programmes and we're in full swing across Lavender Hill, Capricorn, Steenberg, and Retreat. Swimming lessons, dropout prevention workshops, and water safety education are reaching hundreds of youth again.
👉 The highlight? Our recent swimming trials at four schools. Out of 120 learners who thought they could swim, only 15% actually met basic safety criteria. That's 85% of kids who don't know their limits around water - and that's exactly why this work matters.

Knowing your limits isn't about accepting them as permanent, it's your starting point to strive toward potential. We're not just teaching kids to swim. We're building honest self-awareness, real confidence, and the skills to make safe decisions around water.

EcoActive PYD Camp 2025 - that's a wrap! 🏕️🎉
Seventh year of camp magic, 60+ juniors, 10+ seniors (Friday PYD Swimmers) , 15+ volunteers 🇿🇦🇺🇸 and a whole lot of fun.

This year brought a special twist. Our friends from Camp Tecumseh joined us, blending South African heart with American energy. From sharing the EcoActive core values we hope the youth will follow beyond camp, to new games, action-packed activities, and creating new friendships with kids from other schools - our youth embraced every moment.

A week of fun. A lifetime of impact.

To our incredible campers: you brought the energy, the smiles, and the heart. To our Camp Tecumseh crew and our amazing Cape Town volunteers: thank you for pouring into our youth - you made this year one for the books.

Every Kick a Lesson, Every Lap a Leap: Celebrating Resilience. 🏊‍♂️🌟

What an incredible sight at our Term 4 PYD Swim Gala this past Friday! The pool deck buzzed with energy, cheers from parents and teachers which echoed across the water, and determination shone on every swimmer's face.

For youth from the communities surrounding Muizenberg, this gala represents far more than a race: it's a triumph over fear and a celebration of life-saving skills gained through our Drowning Prevention Programme. These achievements are the building blocks that create the needed resilience our youth need to tackle today's everyday challenges.

Our PYD Camp Fun Starts With You.

The smiles, the breakthroughs, the sheer joy of our Positive Youth Development (PYD) Camp are moments that change lives and memories that last a lifetime—and they all begin with a supporter like you. We are hosting our 7th end-of-year camp from 8–12 December for 80 learners from our partner community schools — many of whom are our squad swimmers who began their journey in our Grade 4 drowning prevention lessons. We provide vulnerable youth with much more than just a simple camp; we provide a transformative, safe environment where they can build resilience, learn essential life skills, and discover their true potential and most importantly just be a kid.
