Sometimes the most meaningful acts of kindness are not loud.

We’re sharing the story of a remarkable mother — a single mom raising two high-school-going children while working as a support teacher. Every day, she pours her heart into helping others learn, grow, and succeed 📚✨ — all while quietly managing the responsibilities of her own home.

Living on a limited income means careful planning and constant prioritising. Like so many parents, she has made sacrifices, stretched every rand, and done everything she can to keep her children on a steady path.

The school recognised her situation and granted a fee exemption after reviewing her circumstances with compassion. Even so, an outstanding balance of just under R4,900 remains — a small amount in numbers, but a heavy weight on a single household as her youngest begins high school.

She is not asking for extras.
She is simply hoping to settle this account, draw a line under the past, and continue focusing on what matters most — her children’s education and stability 🎓💙

💔 A NIGHT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING 💔

On Friday evening, 9 January 2026, Chad Hans and Ronshay Sambaba left home like any other day.

They never imagined they would end the night fighting for their lives.

A serious motor vehicle accident has left both of them hospitalized in a local government hospital with severe injuries. Ronshay underwent emergency surgery on Saturday night, 10 January, and both are facing a long, painful road to recovery.

Broken hips.
Broken ribs.
A broken pelvis.
Internal injuries.
And lives suddenly placed on pause.

As if the trauma and fear weren’t enough, the family is now facing urgent, unplanned costs that simply cannot wait:

🚨 R4,000 tow truck fee demanded immediately
🚗 The vehicle is completely written off
🏥 Daily travel expenses from Atlantis to the Foreshore
🧳 Essential personal items for hospital stays—none of which were budgeted for

This is not a family asking for luxury.

They are asking for breathing room while they try to survive the aftermath of tragedy.

Zack’s Cancer Diagnosis this December & Christmas Wish🎗💛🎄

My name is Gaizly, and I am Zack’s mom.

Just a few weeks ago, life felt normal. After a lovely weekend at his uncle’s house at the end of November, Zack knocked himself against the pool ladder while swimming, just above his right knee. At the time, it seemed like a small knock — nothing unusual for a 10-year-old boy.

That Monday morning, while getting him ready for school, I noticed he was limping. When I checked his leg, there was swelling around his knee. I took him to Fish Hoek Hospital that same day, and again the following morning. After X-rays, the doctor looked at me and said words that changed our lives forever:
“Mom, it looks like a bad infection… or cancer.”

By that evening, we were at Red Cross Children’s Hospital. Everything moved so quickly — MRIs, bone scans, chest X-rays, endless tests. Zack was admitted from the 2nd to the 9th of December in the orthopaedic ward. On the 11th of December, after a biopsy, we received the diagnosis:

Zack has Osteosarcoma.💔

A Cancer that starts in the bones.😢

Zack is only 10 years old — full of life, love, and courage far beyond his years. As his mom, my heart is shattered, but I am holding onto faith as tightly as I can while my little boy begins the hardest journey of his life.

🙏🏻 Our Almighty Father, hear our plea tonight, please. We beg for healing for little Jaleen, Father, let her wake up, let there be no damage to her brain, and let her be healed. Lord, with You everything is possible. Lord, we plead Your grace and healing over her life.❤️

💛 A Year Since Our Lives Changed Forever🎗️

Tears fill my eyes as I write this… 💔
This month marks one year since my boy, Tashreeq, was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer — a day forever etched in my heart.
23 October 2024 — the day our lives changed forever.

Seeking Answers 🔎

It all started around the 1st of September, when we began going back and forth to Day Hospital, trying to figure out why his right eye kept swelling. Week after week, we hoped for answers. By the first week of October, we were transferred to Groote Schuur Hospital, where another scan was done. I remember the doctor calling in two more specialists — they said this was something rare they had hardly ever seen.
That Wednesday, we were told to return immediately if things got worse, as his brain scan was only booked for two weeks later.
By Monday, 8 October, we rushed to the hospital — his eyeball had started pushing out of the eyelid. 😢

He felt no pain, Alhamdulillah, but as a mother, it broke me to see him that way.
The doctors admitted him right away and performed a biopsy on the 9th of October. They explained they would remove as much of it as possible. A few days later, we were discharged and told to come back in a week.

The Unforgettable Day 💔

Then came the day I’ll never forget — 23 October 2024.
The day I heard the words no parent should ever have to hear.
I tried so hard to hold back my tears, to stay strong for my son.
He looked at me, confused and concerned, as I forced a smile and told him everything would be okay. On the way home, I called my family… within minutes, they were by our side. We cried, prayed, and tried to make sense of it all. 💔
A few days later, we returned to hear what the next steps would be. On 28 October, we were booked in for a full week of tests — scan after scan. Alhamdulillah, the cancer had not spread beyond his eyelid. 🙏

The Chemotherapy Journey Begins 💊

Then came 12 November 2024, the start of our chemo journey. The hardest chapter yet.
Weeks went by, and I watched as my boy’s hair began to fall out, and the color in his face faded. The reality of cancer hit us hard. But even through the tears, he never gave up. His strength inspired everyone — our family, friends, and even strangers who followed his journey.

One Year Stronger, One Year Braver 🧡

And today — one year later — I can say with pride and gratitude:
I’m the proud mother of a true warrior. 🧡
Tashreeq, you are brave beyond words. You’ve shown us what courage, faith, and resilience truly mean.
With Allah at the center of it all, we have faced the storm — and we continue to rise.
Through every fear, every hospital visit, every tear… you’ve taught us that faith can move mountains.

An endoscopy, colonoscopy, and deeper scans are underway, with PTLD — a post-transplant complication — moving higher on the list of possibilities. While terrifying, they remind the family it is treatable.

Through it all, Camilo keeps fighting**
His father shared, *“No weapon formed against Camilo will prosper. Whatever this may be, he will get through it.”

The scar tells where he’s been
Born with half a heart, surviving three open-heart surgeries and, last year, receiving the gift of a new one.

‼️Help Us Rebuild a Home After a Devastating Fire🏚️💔

Aunty Shariefa’s world was turned upside down when a fire recently destroyed her entire home, leaving her and her children with nothing but the clothes on their backs.😥

In the first week of September last year, I received the most heartbreaking call — my mother’s home (Delft) had been completely destroyed in a fire. In just one night, flames took away everything we held dear: our shelter, our belongings, and the memories within those walls.

While we are deeply grateful that every family member survived, life since that night has been a daily struggle. A full year has passed, and yet we still have not been able to recover. My siblings and my mother are currently living in extremely difficult conditions.

They sleep on a pile of clothes and one old mattress, with pieces of wood held together as shelter. When it rains, everything gets soaked — their bedding, their clothing, and even the little food they sometimes have.💔

They lost not only clothes and household items, but also all important documents like birth certificates, making it even harder to move forward. Most days, they go without enough food and they lack even basic hygiene essentials.

✨ What We Need Most Right Now ✨

We are desperately trying to rebuild, starting with the basics. We need:

* Building materials (wood, zinc sheets, etc.)
* Food and hygiene essentials
* Clothing and shoes for my siblings (7-year-old boy, 9-year-old twin girl & boy, 12-year-old boy, 14-year-old boy, 17-year-old girl) and my mother (47 years old)

*Even second-hand items that are no longer needed could mean the world to them.
