The Chairperson and Board of Kuthetha Nathi / Talk to Us are delighted to welcome Larni to our team.

Larni is a final-year student completing a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
She is passionate about supporting others, early intervention, and inclusive care.

Aspiring to become a clinical psychologist, she has undertaken training in Mental Health First Aid as well as foundational workshops in domestic violence and su***de awareness.

Alongside her studies, Larni works as a support worker providing compassionate, person-centred care to individuals supported through the NDIS.

Beyond her professional pursuits, she volunteers with the Disabled Surfers Association, sharing her love of surfing with diverse members of the community throughout the year.

In her spare time, Larni can be found challenging herself in the gym, catching waves, or spending time in nature. She has a keen sense of curiosity and enjoys exploring new places, foods, and music.

Larni chose to undertake her psychology placement in Cape Town, drawn by its stunning natural beauty, world-class hiking, and the city's rich cultural history and diversity.

The Chairperson and Board of Kuthetha Nathi / Talk to Us are delighted to welcome Nielab to our team 💜

Nielab is currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Psychology with a focus on clinical psychology at the University of Hamburg, Germany. She is also a scholarship holder of the Avicenna Studienwerk, where she is part of a network that promotes both academic excellence and social engagement.

Her work brings together both research and clinical experience. She has worked as a research assistant in neuroscience and clinical psychology, and has gained practical experience in a psychotherapy practice for children and adolescents, where she conducted psychometric assessments.

In her current thesis, Nielab explores how individuals update their beliefs, and how this process is shaped by experiences such as discrimination — combining cognitive neuroscience with socially relevant questions.

She is particularly passionate about understanding how psychological processes influence the way people experience their environments, relationships, and challenges — especially in contexts where access to mental health support is limited.

Joining Kuthetha Nathi in Cape Town allows her to further connect her academic background with meaningful, real-world impact, particularly in communities affected by trauma and limited access to care 🌿

Outside of her academic work, Nielab enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as being outdoors, biking, traveling, and cooking.

Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to the Kuthetha Nathi community ✨

Kuthetha Nathi was honored to collaborate with You Have Purpose, a registered mental health and su***de prevention NGO, on a campaign focused on breaking the stigma around mental health 💬

Based on Bree Street, we connected with pedestrians, opening up meaningful conversations and creating a safe space for anyone who needed someone to talk to.

Every voice matters. Every conversation counts. 🧡

To everyone who came through, showed love, and stood with us — you made it unforgettable 🥹
