Another Ecopsychology Africa retreat to Botswana. Incorporating the Okavango Delta and the Khwai River conservancy. One of Africa's last great wildernesses that we experience in a rustic, eco-friendly way. A privileged adventure for the body and mind. A "Soul Safari." Comments from previous participants below:

"This trip, the Okavango and Khwai Retreat with Ecopsychology Africa was nothing short of transformative. Our small group was exposed to the wonders of Botswana’s wilderness, allowing us the opportunity to blend deep ecopsychology practices with the rhythm of nature.
After landing in Maun we were picked up, and the adventure began. We arrived at the Mokoro Park, were transferred to Mokoro's, and set off to the Island that was going to be our home for the next three days. The beginning of an adventure allows me to slow down, reflect, and reconnect – not just with myself, but with the land, the wildlife, and the group.
From the Island we went on to visit Moremi before going on to our next Campsite in Khwai, where the adventure geared up to another level, under the guidance of Jeffrey and Lucky we were literally immersed, became part of Life in the Park. The collective knowledge of the group made it feel like I was on a National Geographic expedition, every sighting/experience we had was enriched by this energy.
This retreat is more than travel; it is a journey into Botswana’s wild heart, together with the guidance of Ecopsychology Africa, has given me a "Bucket List" experience I will carry forward for the rest of my life.”

"My experience in the Okavango was soul-soothing and healing. To witness nature at less than one meter above water level, looking through the grasses and sedges, soaking in the wildness, fresh air and nature at its absolute best, was truly a gift. The guides were caring and highly competent, making us feel completely at ease. The joy of having food prepared for us and tents put up, with everything we need, allowed us to relax and simply enjoy every moment. The hike on land with someone as experienced as Great made me feel completely safe. Lucky's professional handling of any situation, his knowledge of the vegetation, his ability to read the tracks in the soil and find us predators, and his stories, make me feel like I will have to plan another trip there soon!"

"I want to give you another heartfelt thanks for a relaxing AND stimulating week. I feel peaceful and alive at the same time.
Your presence, the location and your choice of Lucky contributed to a memorable week. Lucky's ability to find a kill or a leopard lying low in the bushes was uncanny.
This is my 5th visit to the Okavango and the most enjoyable."

Photographers and birders have exceptional sightings on Ecopsychology Africa retreats. These awesome photos by Dr Richard Chefetz are from the last Serengeti retreat. They are of a martial eagle- we see the eagle perched in an acacia tree holding its prey, a mongoose, and then flying off with it. An incredible sighting, absolutely brilliant photography!

Ecopsychology Africa will facilitate a bespoke retreat to Northern Tanzania's Game reserves in May/June 2026- Tarangire, Serengeti, and Lake Manyara National Parks, and the Ngorongoro Crater. This retreat will coincide with the Wildebeest migration across the Grumeti River. This is a deeply immersive retreat to areas I know well and will provide you with an unparalleled experience of Tanzanian wilderness, with a guide I work closely with, and with the ecological, psychological, and symbolic insights that Ecopsychology Africa provides. All this with consciousness-altering meditations in "wild" places along the way to add depth and complexity to your experience, and reset your system along the way- an opportunity to nurture your inner world while having the adventure of a lifetime.
Ecopsychology Africa has now facilitated over 70 retreats- incorporating nature, mind and spirit. Taking your Soul on Safari!

Bwti and Iboga ceremony in Gabon. Safely back home after a deeply immersive exploration of Gabon. Given my interest in African culture and spirituality, we were able to attend a Bwiti and iboga ceremony. Absolutely authentic. With the most wonderful warmth and hospitality. All photos and videos were taken with full permission of the nganga or in South African terms, the nyanga- the shaman facilitating the ceremony. Iboga, an entheogen or psychedelic plant was consumed throughout. Children are exposed to and use iboga- the boy we see dancing, is using iboga. He was up dancing with great enthusiasm right through the night, until the ceremony stopped at about 8h00. The singing, dancing, drumming through the night carried tremendous energy with it. All in a village way of any tourist map. A plate of shredded iboga is shown, and unshredded iboga roots.

The Bwiti ceremony is a complex deep ceremony that ultimately has a healing intention. The music in and of itself is trance inducing and consciousness altering.

Such an absolute privilege to be invited to attend this ceremony and be an active part of it. EcopsychologyAfrica
