A single contribution might not feel like much on its own. But when a community wraps its arms around a family, small moments turn into something life-changing. 💜

Johan’s campaign started with a simple R200 donation. From there, person after person quietly stepped up to help. By the end, 46 people came together to push past his R40,000 goal, raising R44,636 to get this brave little boy the medical care he needed.

Nobody had to do it all on their own. Everyone just gave what they could, and together, they changed everything for Johan’s family.

One routine operation changed Akona’s life in an instant, leaving her paralyzed - a reality she never saw coming.

Yet despite the sudden loss of mobility and the endless daily hurdles, Akona shows up for herself every single day. She still works night shifts in customer service, living on her own without family support, navigating inaccessible public transport and a world that simply wasn't built for her current reality.

Moving forward takes many forms. Akona is doing her part, now she just needs a little support to secure safe, reliable transport, a wheelchair-accessible home, and basic stability. 💙

His wife, Nabila, is marking this milestone by turning love and remembrance into something meaningful.

Through “40 for 40”, she is honouring Benjamin while recognising CANSA, which supported him and continues to walk alongside people and families affected by cancer.

Our usual Good News Drop looks a little different this week because there's one story that deserves the whole spotlight. 💜

Five-year-old Amor needed surgery and specialised care, and her community responded in the most extraordinary way.

In just over two weeks, 91 donors carried her campaign beyond its R150,000 target, raising more than R153,000 in time for her procedure.

Her family has now shared the update everyone was waiting for: Amor’s surgery went well and she is recovering. She is still sore, but she is trying, and every small step forward means so much.

The Dorchester Court fire changed several lives in one afternoon.
Shalom, Eitan and Harel lost everything they owned. Lauren lost the home she had known for 21 years and, heartbreakingly, her father. Her little dog was safely rescued. Wilma also lost everything inside her apartment.

Three campaigns were created, and the community answered with extraordinary heart.

Together, more than R800,000 has been raised so far. Although a detailed rebuilding update is still to come, these funds are intended to ease immediate pressures and help those affected begin replacing essentials and finding stability again.

No amount can replace what was lost. But hundreds of people have made sure that those rebuilding will not do it alone.

Some people remain unmistakably themselves, even through life’s hardest chapters.

Mark Randall has shared a difficult update: his cancer has spread. Yet the man speaking through it is still the same Mark his community knows, positive, grateful and always thinking about what he can do for someone else.

For decades, Mark has shown up for people, animals, nature and his community. Even now, he continues to give back and encourages anyone facing a difficult season to keep going, one day at a time.

More than 160 people have stood alongside Mark through his campaign. In his latest message, his gratitude for every person who has carried him through this time comes through so clearly.

When JP was seriously injured in a motor accident while working in Montana, he was thousands of kilometres away from Annika, Laudo and the people who loved him.

A BackaBuddy campaign was created to help bring him home, and the community responded with far more than contributions.
Donors left messages filled with love:

“Ons wag vir jou hier … waar jou mense vir jou lief is.”
“My hart is by julle.”
“Sending love your way.”

Together, 94 donors contributed more than R110,000. Each donation carried its own story, but the message behind them was the same: you are not alone. 💜

At two years old, Ethan is curious, playful and deeply loved. He is also beginning treatment for leukaemia.

When the diagnosis turned his family’s world upside down, Joshua Rubin made them a promise: he would do everything he could.

That promise has become an approximately 8,000 km journey around South Africa. Together with his childhood friend Daniel, Joshua will spend six weeks sharing the people, places and stories that make our country special, while carrying Ethan’s story with them.

The response has already been deeply moving. In the campaign’s first 23 days, 152 people raised more than R104,000 towards treatment-related costs and the needs that may arise throughout Ethan’s journey.

Every kilometre carries the story of one little boy, a family staying close and a community reminding them that they are not walking this road alone.
