Helderberg Stroke Support Group

Helderberg Stroke Support Group HSSG has been improving the lives of those affected by a stroke through education and empowerment.

The Helderberg Stroke Support Group (HSSG) was founded in 1993 and offers assistance to stroke survivors in the Helderberg Basin and the families that support them. The HSSG is made up of a dedicated group of health professionals, volunteers, family members, friends and stroke survivors. We aim to improve the education, function, health and participation of stroke survivors in the communities that surround the Helderberg area of the Western Cape.

On Saturday the 18th April our Macassar group joined the Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital's Prime walk and we all had a fantastic time! The rain stayed away for just the right time and we were able to walk the route at Paardevlei which was followed by a delicious breakfast and goody bag.

Thank you to the staff at Busamed for spending the time with us and sharing a laugh and a story!

We are always grateful for our community partnerships and the drive for inclusion. At HSSG we believe in life after stroke!

Last week we were incredibly fortunate to continue our campaign at The University of the Western Cape. At the Helderberg Stroke Support Group we aim to reduce the risk factors of a stroke through education and screening of Blood pressure.
