Hello friends.... we hope you had a restful weekend. Nothing like some to finish of the week!

Starting an animal welfare organization is not for sissies at the best of times, but especially if you have just moved to the area and do not know a whole lot of people!

This is exactly what Ria and her hubby Riaan did though, when moving to Chatsworth towards Malmsbury way, a few months ago. They could not ignore the plight of hungry, shelterless animals and humans .... hence Angels For People and Animals was born!

Like all welfare orgs though, Purple Kennel included, it's sometimes hard to feel like one is actually making any progress, when there is so many in need out there ... the good news, is that they are indeed truly making a difference to local residents both 2 and 4 legged thanks to their few supporters.

We were happy thanks as always to our generous donors that we were able to give them a leg up with 8 warm kennels. Thank you Ria and friends for ensuring they all went to such deserving homes!

The stories are in the captions, please be sure to give them a follow and support wherever
possible πŸ™πŸ’œ

Hello friends ....

August was an incredible month for Purple Kennel that saw another 48 more Kennels leave our HQ... thanks to several incredibly generous donors.... not forgetting those who also assist with the collection and transportation of course.... Thank you to everyone, you are all so appreciated!

Then this weekend .... it will be exactly 7 months since our darling tripod Leroy joined the Purple Kennel crew. What he lacks in the leg department....he certainly makes up for in personality and charm.

He just cannot wait to greet all the kennel collectors, partly because he cannot seem to get enough sloppy kisses in one day, as well as also having a passion for 'dog smelling' vehicles, which is usually the case dealing with animal welfare volunteers! He thinks nothing of jumping in... 3 legs and all. We would not change him for the world though 🀣

Watch this space for more soon folks ... Happy weekend to all ! πŸ’œ

PS: Be sure to see the stories behind these kennels in the captions! @

Hello folks .... apologies for the silence, some weeks are busier than others at work, and therefore fewer gaps to keep you all updated....

There is always alot going on behind the scenes though.... we still managed to prep another 49 Kennels in the last two weeks, the last of which will be collected this week coming, watch out for more info on those ....

Then one of my favourite Sunday pastimes is to chill on the couch, and sort out my that have come in. They are always a reminder of the amazing work our welfare partners are doing out there, as well as the true generosity that we are blessed to receive from our sponsors to be able to make such a difference to so many woofers.

There will be more happy pics coming later in the week, but for now ....these ones are from Kerry and team The WOW Project who have clearly chosen some much deserving recipients....and best of all, they have all been sterilised too!

Be sure to read the stories in the caption to see how these furries are loving their new homes. Except for a generously donated birthday Kennel in the mix, the others are all from one of our truly amazing anonymous donors to whom we struggle to find enough words to thank them for the difference they have made. We are truly grateful for every single kennel. Thank you all! πŸ’œ

We were very blessed during Mandela month to receive some amazing generosity in terms of Kennel sponsorships .... the pics are gradually making their way in and love sharing these happy furry faces!

Huge thanks to Rikki Schroder and family once again for changing these furry lives for the better with these Mandela month Hampers, which included some fruit and veggies for those humans in need within the community.

Thanks to Grabouw Animal Welfare Society who were gifted 7 of the aforementioned kennels and have made sure they all went to worthy recipients.

Happy Friday folks, hope you and your pups stay warm ! πŸ’œ

Here at Purple Kennel.... we so wish we had a bottomless stack of Kennels, as there are so many animals in need out there and so many welfares doing amazing work. We have to turn down many requests unfortunately.....

One of our non negotiable bench marks when issuing Kennels is to know that the welfare org has a sterilization program at the heart of their strategy to combat the ever increasing cycle of neglect and over population.

When ARK Animal Rescue - Kareedouw & Langkloof , a fairly new organization in the Eastern Cape approached us, we were so impressed with their sterilization drive, that we just had to make a plan, and at least give their Kennel drive a head start and thanks to one of our regular generous donors were able to send 15 brand spanking new kennels to them.

They have started distributing them and our hearts are bursting when seeing how these such deserving woofers are now loving life warm as toast in their cozy homes. 15 Kennels as appreciated as they are, is merely a drop in the ocean for what they need.... so calling on all the kind hearts out there to help us help them along with the many other orgs we try to assist with too.

Help change some furry lives for the better ...by sponsoring a kennel... there is seriously no greater feeling than helping an animal who cannot help themselves! πŸ™

Thank you Michelle and team for these amazing videos and for the amazing work you do ! πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Happy Monday friends....

Anyone that knows me, will know that Afrikaans is most definitely not my first language ....or even my last 🀣, so although I may not have understood what Laurika Stander from Zola’s Paw Rescue was saying in these reels.... in this case thankfully actions speak much louder than words and my heart is so full seeing how warm and snug these Purple Kennel recipients are now, there in chilly Kleinmond πŸ’œ

First up is Nala and her busy litter of pups, they had no shelter until the owner ask Laurika if they could help. Thankfully, due to the generosity of a recent annonymous donor, Nala and her furry family are now super happy and loving their new home and the owner is super grateful too. Hopefully if funds allow ... Nala, will be sterilised and there will be no more littersπŸ’œ

Next up was the gorgeous boy 'Survivor' ....a very apt name as he was sadly the victim of being burned by boiling hot water by a nasty neighbour πŸ˜₯ Again, Laurika and team to the rescue, where they ensured he not only got the vet treatment he needed, but also went home to a warm new home, many thank to donor Thea Walker, who also makes all the comfy beds for the kennels too!

Thanks to all for adding some much comfort to these special furry lives! πŸ’œ

There are still just a few more days to sponsor a Mandela Month Hamper... R850 for a large Kennel, warm blanket, bucket of dog food and a box of fruit and veg.

Whatsapp me on 082 876 2072 if you would like to make a difference! πŸ™πŸ’œ

Judgement is a difficult word to describe.... I received some photos last week from our friends at PetPals in the Strand area who advised that one of our donated Kennels had been given to a precious woofer called Tessa, who was not only 'people unfriendly' but that all she had only ever known was an old 'stolen' supermarket trolley as very own 'Safe space'

Is it any wonder perhaps that she was a bit grumpy? Then again..... When looking at photos of the shopping trolley lined with black plastic as supposedly an attempt at protecting her from the elements? I found myself thinking that at least her owner had tried to make her life better?

Not being able to get even near fiesty Tessa.... Dawie and Yolanda, from PetPals asked Tessa's owner to send pics of her in the kennel. He gladly obliged, sending the most heartfelt pics of Tessa settling into her new safe space. It's so easy to judge and say her owner should have done better .... but this girl is now in 7th heaven and want to thank our regular donors Kyra and Tristan von Bach for gifting her, her own private space, Yolanda and Dawie for trying to educate the owner to gain some responsibility! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Clarina and team at Tin Can Town wasted no time in getting their Mandela Kennels out to the excited furry recipients.... just in time before the rain came too!

When doing field work and animal outreaches in the townships, it is important to have volunteers on the inside too... those who can be relied on to communicate any issues and be a voice for the animals. It was agreed that they should be the recipients of the fruit and vegetable boxes as a 'Thank you' for all that they do!

Thank you guys for spreading the love! πŸ’œ

After a full day of socializing yesterday in his guest relations role here at Purple Kennel.... We did not think that anything would drag Leroy away from the warm fireside this morning....

That was until he heard the sound of another car on the gravel and immediately jumped into work mode to go and greet Leigh, a kind volunteer for The WOW Project collecting the last of yesterday's Mandela day Hampers.

Another 10 warm kennels, 10 buckets of food with 10 blankets and 10 fruit and veg boxes... it was a tight fit, but we got all of this into Leigh's Ford Eco sport and once again with such gratitude from our amazing donor.

All that remained was for Leroy to offer Leigh some of his infamous French kisses and he was soon back in the warmth ... even if Lola had temporarily stolen his spot!

Wishing you a cosy restful Sunday from all
of us ! πŸ’œπŸ”₯πŸ˜΄πŸ•πŸΎ
