The Health Foundation proudly joined the official launch of the Western Cape on Wellness Rewards Programme at Westridge Gardens in Mitchells Plain, with special guest, Bruce Fordyce.

Perfect weather, enthusiastic runners and walkers, with a shared commitment to healthier living set the scene for an energising 5km walk/run.

The WOW Rewards Community App generated great interest, highlighting healthy lifestyle choices.

Congratulations to the Programme team for a successful launch. We look forward to witnessing how this initiative will benefit Western Cape communities.

In honour of Mandela Day and the spirit of giving back, we spent our time at Kwa Nothemba Workshop, recognising the meaningful work they do to empower young people living with disabilities.

As a small gesture of appreciation and support, we donated food parcels and blankets to the organisation.

Kwa Nothemba provides young people living with disabilities with practical and empowering skills, including sewing, woodwork, arts and crafts, and computer skills. Through these programmes, young people are given opportunities to develop their abilities, build confidence and gain skills that can support greater independence.

It was a privilege to spend time with the Kwa Nothemba Workshop community and to recognise the dedication of those who work every day to create opportunities for young people living with disabilities.

Together, we can continue building more inclusive communities where every young person has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The Health Foundation had the privilege of being part of a meaningful handover of specialised wheelchairs and walkers to beneficiaries with physical impairments at the Adams Family Farm, made possible through the Cape Care Fund initiative.

This was more than a handover. It was a reminder that accessibility is not a privilege but a fundamental human right strongly linked to dignity and that the adequate support can unlock independence, opportunity, and hope.

We are immensely grateful to the Mayor’s Fund for making this initiative possible and to the WC Department of Social Development for their shared commitment to building more inclusive communities.

A special thank you to the Adams Family Farm for the incredible work you continue to do in uplifting and supporting your community.

The Health Foundation had the privilege of attending the savesevenlives AGM yesterday, where the newly appointed Executive Committee was formally announced, an important milestone in Save7’s continued growth and development.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to President and former CEO, , as well as and , whose vision played a pivotal role in building this much‑needed cause focused on saving lives by raising awareness about organ donation. Their leadership also contributed to the creation of the first‑ever LifePod at Tygerberg Hospital.

We also wish the newly elected leadership team: , , , and every success as they take forward the organisation’s mission. In addition, Save7 welcomed David Thomson, Prof. Elmin Steyn, and to its Advisory Board, strengthening governance and strategic oversight. Jonty will now serve as Chairperson of this newly established Advisory Board, with Sachen and Naazim continuing their valuable contributions on the board as well.

It has been an honour for The Health Foundation to be involved in Save7’s conceptualisation, and we look forward to walking the journey ahead as the organisation continues to grow, evolve, and expand its impact.
