𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 learner 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. UMTHOMBO WEMPILO (UW) implements a holistic Learner support and youth development programme. Students with potential from disadvantaged backgrounds are supported for higher education study and vocational training, and also enabled with mentorship and psychosocial support; career guidance and work-readiness development;

work experience opportunities; and development as socially conscious and committed members of society. UW aims to recruit candidates that are ordinarily overlooked by other programmes, which commonly seek out top achievers only. Umthombo Wempilo calls on more businesses to partner with it to reduce intergenerational poverty and change the futures of young individuals, their families and communities. Donor support for the work of the organisation consistently produces exponential benefits that accrue to society as a whole.
