As the founder of Legacy Kids SA (Yusra Petersen), I teamed up with 3 passionate individuals (board of directors) who will use their respected disciplines to contribute toward this programme. Target group/community:
We have adopted the 5 poorest schools in the Western Cape and aim to equipt the children with better life skills and the necessary tools to become successful adults. In addition, we a
im to address the social issues that they face such as high pregnancy rates, drug/alcohol abuse and the lack of skills, guidance, mentorship and development. We plan to address this through our interactive programmes. Types of programmes we plan to introduce?
• Arts & Craft programmes
• Educational enrichment programmes. For example: health education/guidance workshops and mentorship/reading and teaching systems etc.
• Sporting programmes, music, dance, amongst others
Why we need you! We want to help facilitate a positive change, but the 5 of us cannot do it alone. We know that with the aid of enthusiastic and passionate people – like you, we can make a bigger difference. We understand that everyone has a busy schedule, but we need volunteers to give of their time (we know how valuable that is) as well as of their skills to help run and co-ordinate these programmes. Ways in which you could assist the organisation:
• Time (Full time/Volunteer basis).
• Offer a skill/expertise or just an idea.
• Sponsorship/funding (If you know of anyone that could be of assistance?)
• Resources (Low cost/Recyclable materials) to run these programmes.
• Promotion of Legacy Kids SA.
• Sporting equipment/school clothing/bags/shoes that are no longer needed or used.
• Books and other resources.
• Coach a team or offer a class :)
We need volunteers to assist us once these programmes are running as well as during events. Again, we understand that time is valuable, hence, we would deeply appreciate even an hour or two of your time. Contact Details regarding volunteering:
